Question about 1997 Lexus ES 300

1 Answer

My dome light will not work on my 1997 Lexus ES300. I've checked the fuse and have installed a new light bulb. No power

I just purchased a used 1997 Lexus ES300 and the dome light inside would not work. So I tried changing the bulb and I checked the fuse. The fuse looked fine if I was looking at the right one it's a 7.5 amp fuse. I cleaned the fixture and checked the ligh contacts also. No luck.

what year is the es300? On my 1993 es300 the mass airflow sensor also plays a role in the electrical of the fuel pump... so if its not getting power at the fuel pump check the circuit opening relay and the mass air flow sensor.....

hope that works for ya

we can try the obvious, theres the window cancel button on the driver master panel. or if the one touch feature doesnt work. roll each window all the way down and then all the way up and that will reinitialize it.

The fuse my have blow when the bulb did, check and see if you have power and ground at the dome light, if so, check the new bulb for continuity , if not, check the dome light fuse.

2006 colbat dome light will not work

Are you saying that the dome light doesn't work when opening the door? Or when using the dash dimmer control to activate it? Or both?
There is a position on the dimmer control of most vehicles to disable the dome light. Verify that you don't have it in that position. It is normally at the opposite end of the dimmer rotation from the position that turns the dome light on. If the light doesn't work from either the dimmer or the door switch, check the bulb. They do burn out. If you replace it, do not touch the glass of the new bulb directly when installing. They get very hot and the oils on your fingers will cause premature failure. If everything seems ok (dimmer/door switch/bulb), check for a blown fuse. Otherwise the problem is in the car wiring.

light is sitting in line on the hot wire. If you want to blow the fuse, tough the side of the bulb to any chassis metal.

How to replace interior dome light bulb?

1) Remove the key from the ignition. Make sure the doors are closed, so the new bulb does not illuminate when you are installing it.

2) Make sure the dome light switch is turned to the "Off" position. Pry the plastic lens away from the dome light. Use a small, flat-head screwdriver.

3) Push back the side bulb clamp. Pull out the old dome lightbulb. Wipe the area with a paper towel if it is dirty.

4) Wrap the new bulb in a paper towel (oil from your skin will shorten its life). Insert it into the dome lightbulb holder. Push it up gently to secure it.

5) Turn the switch to "On" to test the bulb. Reposition the cover and push up to lock the clips into place.

If the bulb doesn't work, you've got a bad switch somewhere, probably on the drivers door.

1997 Rav 4 auto transmission, will not shift out of park unless I remove cover and depress solenoid with a pen. At the same time, a fuse for the rear tail lights and interior and dome lights was burnt out....

The problem is likely in your lighting circuit.Just to be sure, check the amperage rating on the new fuse-make certain it is the right fuse for that spot. Then, install another fuse, and step on the brake,no other lights on.If it shifts have some one make sure the brake lamps work,if the fuse blows before you shift(listen for the pop) you have a short in the brake lamp circuit or a bad bulb. Not sure which bulb? they're cheap-replace them both! Good luck

Lights on the climate controls won't go on. Is that a burned bulb or a fuse issue?

If the other lights in the dash work, the dome light/radio bezel lights work, and the cigarette lighter works, it's a blown bulb.

If any of the other lights don't work as well, it's possibly a fuse, but still could be multiple blown bulbs, which can happen when power fluctuates but does not cause the fuse to open.

If there is a switch on the dome light, that may be your problem. You would need to remove the assembly and check for voltage coming into the switch using a voltmeter with the door open.
