I have a 2006 Avalon Touring. My key became stuck in my ignition so we unhooked the battery cable and were able to release the key. My husband took it in for service and they said there was some "gooey" stuff on the key. which is what made it stick. But I was thinking that "goo" may have been the WD oil that we put in the ignition. Anyway, ever since I unhooked the battery my check engine and VSC lights have been on. The dealer ran a diagnostic and said they got error codes. The thing is the lights did not appear until I after we unhooked the battery. Is there any way to test this out - like maybe clear the codes and run the diagnostic again?

Disconnect your battery for 10 minutes after which you connect it back the lights should go off. Don't report to toyota. Nigerian style!

Autozone will check your engine codes for free.

You have to use a scanner and pull the code out that is causing the check engine light to come on. whatever code/codes you find are probably related to vsc light.
Good luck and keep me posted
