Tighten the cylinder head bolts to their final torque specification in two steps. Use a crisscross sequence starting with the bolts at the middle of the head and working toward the outer bolts.

  1. Step 1: Tighten each bolt to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  2. Step 2: Tighten each bolt to 61 ft. lbs. (85 Nm).

SOURCE: Replacing head gasket on 1995 honda civic, require torque specs and secquence

7.3 ft.lbs Go from middle, to back right, to back left, to front right, to front left. if your standing in fron of your header.  11 or over usually shears the bolt.(if you have stock bolts)
Make sure you dap some rtv on the sharper 4 corners of the gasket where the cam seals are.

SOURCE: hi what is the head torque on a 2002 honda civic

Dont forget to apply clean engine oil to the threads of each bolt for proper torquing. Then finger tighten. Then

    1. Tighten the cylinder head bolts to their final torque specification in 4 steps. Use a crisscross sequence starting with the bolts at the middle of the head and working toward the outer bolts as follows: Step 1: Tighten each bolt to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).Step 2: Tighten each bolt to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm).Step 3: Tighten each bolt to 49 ft. lbs. (67 Nm).Step 4: Retighten only the 2 center bolts to 49 ft. lbs. (67 Nm).
    1. Step 1: Tighten each bolt to 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
    2. Step 2: Tighten each bolt to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm).
    3. Step 3: Tighten each bolt to 49 ft. lbs. (67 Nm).
    4. Step 4: Retighten only the 2 center bolts to 49 ft. lbs. (67 Nm).

2000 honda civic sir 1.6 dual cam vtec head torque and head bolt location

The Head bolts are located below the cams, so you have to take the cams out to get to the bolts.
The torque specs for the head bolts in sequence is 20, 40, then end at 63ft lbs. Be sure to apply anti sieze or dip the head bolts in oil, before you torque them down or you might pull out the threads. (Not a good thing TRUST ME!)
    Hope this helps.

wow. a lot of bad information on this site. Refer to a manual for the proper torque sequence. The civic I believe is a two step torque procedure. First 22 ft lbs, than 53 ft lbs.
