sounds to me like an issue with either the ignition switch itself or the ignition control module (if equipped, the years and makes modules were used are spotty at best so its hard to tell without looking at it) or quite simply a fuse/relay or a bad spot in the wiring/bad ground. i would inspect the wiring and all the connections first. then call youll local parts story and see if they can duty test your coil for you(some can be tested some cant) you should be able to do all this with out spending money on parts. once youve insured the wiring is not the issue, the coil is fine etc then most likely your ignition switch is the culprit. hope this helps

There isnt a schematic for valve timing. i need to know a bit more, such as is this an over head cam engine, is it a interference engine, if it is over head cam is it dual over head cams? in general if your number one cylinder is at TDC and all the valves over number one are closed than your valve train is in time. hope this helps

SOURCE: my cam shaft timming gear and my crank shaft

The rotor should be pointing close to number 1, but keep in mind that the spark is actually supposed to happen before the piston gets to tdc so the rotor will be a little bit past the number 1 terminal when the crankshaft indicates that you're at tdc.

Something is obviously not proper in the timing case.
Pick up a Chilton's manual, which should give you all the info needed,to rectify your situation. Good luck.

Timming chain problems

I don't know what "timming" or "minic" means, but (from context) I'm assuming you think that you are having some kind of a a TIMING chain problem.
The timing chain simply goes around the crank shaft sprocket and around the cam gear, turning the cam shaft. If it is in place, your vehicle will run. If it breaks, the vehicle will not run. If it is loose, your vehicle may run rough, but there will be an obvious rattling noise coming out of the timing chain cover at the front of the engine, as it moves the tensioner aroundr.
That's about it for a timing chain. There is nothing else to it.
Hope that answers your question!

Timming chain broke

place no 1 piston at TDC compression stroke. There are procedures for the timing of the balance shafts but if it is only the timing chain I will go to that
Align uniquely coloured chain link with intake camshaft sprocket timing mark-- INT--. ( this will be pointing at the 2 o'clock position)
install timing chain and sprocket as an assembly
align first matching coloured chain link crankshaft timing mark (5 o'clock position)
align the second matching coloured chain link with exhaust cam shaft timing mark--EXH ( at the 11 o'clock position
There is a special procedure to reset the balance tensioner and it is different to the timing chain procedure.

To reset cam shaft timing chain tensioner push piston fully and turn clockwise until locked
Once the tensioner has been compressed ensure the distance from end to end is 2.83 inches . If not repeat the resetting process
vehicles 30.000 miles the tensioner is released when the engine is first started . In vehicles over 30.000 miles manually release tensioner by tapping the plunger
Note cam shaft and crank shaft sprockets bolts MUST only be used once. If you want details on the balancer chain procedure then make a comment in the box
use tension wrench and a degree gauge
cam bolts are tensioned to 63 ft lbs + 30 degrees
crank shaft pulley is tensioned to 74 ft lbs + 75 degrees

Set timing on dodge ram

remove #1 spark plug, then have someone bump the starter while you hold your finger over the plug hole, Bring #1 cylinder up to T.D.C. (Top Dead Center) on firing stroke you will feel a rush of air push your finger off of the plug hole, check that the mark(or groove) that is cut into harmonic balancer,(what crank shaft pully is mounted to) is lined up with timming indicator on timming chain cover, check to see that rotor button is pointing at #1 on cap.
this should get you back to where you need to be if distributor was removed and engine was turned or moved.
then look at lable under hood if it is still there , if not check service manual for degree either before, or after T.D.C.
I hope this will answer your question
