Got a 2003 ford tauras ..would the crank sensor keep the transmisson from engaging

NO YEAR TOLD 2000?
THE POST IS NOT CLEAR AT ALL

• STARTER MOTOR DEAD AND WILL NOT CRANK.
• CRANKS FAST BUT WILL NOT START

NO VIN OR COUNTRY TOLD TO THE BLIND.

DID YOU MEAN CRANKS OK BUT WILL NOT START?
OR?
NO CRANK HAS 6 CAUSES
NO ENGINE RUN HAS 50
LEARN TO BE CLEAR WHAT WORKS AND DOES WORK'
BOTH.
IF CRANKS ONE OF 2 THING STOP STARTING
IMMO LAMP ON DASH NOT HAPPY

1. ENGINE CAM BELT FAILED.
2. SPARK DEAD SCAN IT TO SEE WHY.
3. FUEL DEAD. THE ECU CUTS FUEL IF IT SEES SPARK DEAD.

USE A SCAN TOOL TO SEE WHY THE ECU/ECM/PCM
WILL NOT CREATE SPARK, GUE$$ING IS NOT CHEAP.
WE USE TOOLS TO FIX CARS OR GO BROKE

no car told at all,is it a car or RM250? cycle(motor)
no maker,model , year or engine told or VIN/
stop guessing and not go broke worse add parts that fails.
some CKP sensor most be calibrated, so throwing those is super wrong,
key on , engine light must come on, so does not.
that means fuses are blown, cab fuses or engine bay fuses;.
it cranks good ,so we know the battery is good.
if the PCm detects spark as bad it cuts fuel 100% on purpose, aLL EFI does that gas engine for no crash and burn and by law.

so the key factor here is NO SPARK, on all cylinders.???????
if this engine (none told) has rubber band cam drive, that is what is bad. as the LOVE to do at 60,000 miles.

so in USA we have SCAN TOOLS, 1996UP.
AND WE CAN CRANK ANY CAR AND SCAN IT FOR LOST SPARK REASON.
IT BURNS PETROL, NOT GAS, (USA WE CALL IT GASOLINE,I BET you call it petrol.

Theft light on? Flashing? Also, if you can't afford to rent a scan tool, how do you plan to get the trouble codes? It's like asking a Dr. to diagnose you but refusing to get lab tests. If you want to fix it yourself you need the proper tools.

Did you hook up a fuel pressure gauge an test pressure an flow ? Does it have spark ? What engine does it have ? 4.6 or 5.4 L Have a scan tool to view engine management sensor inputs to the PCM ? 003 Engine Peformance Tests Scan Data Tests

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Your check engine light is on because the computer in your car has detected a problem. Take it to Autozone or Advanced to have it scanned. They do this for free and they can tell you why it is on. This is the best way to go about this because there are literally a hundred different things that cause the light to come on. This way, you are not spending money and time on parts you don't need. The stalling could be a vacuum leak or clogged fuel filter. As far as the idle, it may need adjusted or it could be a bad idle control sensor. By getting the car scanned, you will know for sure, plus, it is free.

Instead of going crazy and throwing parts at it, buy or rent a scan tool.

whoever installed the egr valve, if it wasnt you, just cleared the engine codes, thus giving you this problem once again. Get it scanned at autozone, and go from there.

How many miles on the car? Have you ever changed the fuel filter? (Sounds like fuel pump and filter)

Thi could be a crank sensor/ cam sensor problem. It could be a grounding problem or a variety of problems. Did the check engine light come on? If so, then get a scan done to identify the exact cause of the problem.
