We have replaced the crank sensor, wire from the cap to the coil pack, new battery and it is cranking over fine but will not fire or get spark. Also the radio will not come on. I have checked all the fuses and relay's and they are good. the rotors is also turning fine. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT, I WILL KEEP YOU INFORMED AS WE GO!!!
Hello,
Fuel - Spark - Compression
If you have a book there are testing practices within the book for 'priming the fuel system', using a volt-meter (ohms) to check the coil (in tolerance - tolerance specs), and compression testing.
With that said a dirty TPS sensor could also be a cause - bypass the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) by holding down the gas pedal to the floor and starting the vehicle. If the vechile starts get some electrical cleaning spray and clean the TPS electrical connection and chase it with compressed air (quick-dry -- compressed air works as a cleaning aid too).
Could also be a main computer problem if you have had 'different' problems occuring with the vehicle (stalling, black smoke, won't start, etc.)
I hope this helps

according to my partsman (who has had great advice for many years), you do not have to remove the door panel to replace the door handle which contains the cylinder lock. the handle is released with a screw which you can see when you open the door. you will need a starhead screwdriver or socket. A new handle costs around $40 at a parts store in my area. call around for a locksmith who will re-key your key to the new lock or use the key which comes with the new lock, your choice. i am in dealing with this also

I don't think so. You really need to get into component testing and see what has failed. I would guess that it is either the engine coolant temp. sensor or the fuel pump relay or fuel pump. Find out if you ECM has any stored codes, this might help put you in the right direction.
SOURCE: how do you open the fuel cap door on a volkswagen
Pushing the door with your hand isn't going to help, but after digging through a lot of info online, I succeeded in doing this. You have to peel back the lining of the trunk on the right side. Once you get a chance to look in there, there's a somewhat transparent white box inside the trunk near the gas cap. Attached to that is a small metal arm that connects to the inside of the gas cap release.
Tug on that piece of metal, and you'll pop open the gas cap.

I have a 1998 volkswagon jetta. The starter doesn't turn over. Occassionaly when you move the car forward or back then it will crank. What is wrong?
