1998 jeep wrangler

My sons 1998 wrangler 5 speed with 85,000 miles. When driving it feels like the power cuts out at 2200 r.p.m. or there abouts . You can floor it but no matter what gear the shift light comes on and you loose power and must up shift just to get the same result in the next gear . I noticed it in 5th gear on the freeway last week, it would not let the vehicle go past 70 . My son 4 wheeled it the other day and now it is happening in all gears . Even in neutral when revving the engine the power starts falling away ar 2200 to 2500 r,p,m. No trouble lights or other problems

Hello, I'm looking for a replacement for my jeep cherokee 99, the current part number is Chysler P56041 629AD, I found a Chysler P56041 278AD, can this computer works ok with my cherokee?

THE PCM MODULE.
no country stated, the 728ad shows Europe. (why?)
"I found"

where, at ebay, at pick-apart, or ?
USA cars have 11 PCM for one engine. fact.
and 100s more world wide.
what a question, just a p/n
then you post to grand Cherokee and then text leaving out Grand.?
why?
i searched the part at jeep and is wrangle part, 629ad.

you do know that it must be reprogrammed to your car right:?
the pcms on cars can vary
by engine, trans opted , 4wd/2wd,and year.
federal PCM
Calif PCM
and mexico PCM
and 9 more. just for 1999

is yours 42RE for 45RFE?? tranny??? 30/32 RH? what?
post county (or state if calif)
post engine and year
post body and not contradict.?
post drive line, in car, tranny and if 4wd?
then we can match it up
or call jeep.com

they (jeep) will do this magical thing!
ask you the VIN.
and then look it up in their database.
and see ALL THE ABOVE even what radio is in it. of 5.
me, im a glass half full guy (hard knocks, reality stuff)
id not even believe the part in car is correct.
im too SAVVY !
i find out from jeep what it should have first.

not one matches the 4.0L in the GC.

the 629 posted shows this at jeep.com

I own a 98 Wrangler Spt, 5 speed manual tranny, with 85,000 miles. Driving home from work last week on the highway at approximately 70 MPH the vehicle completely lost power and coasted to a stop. Kind...

I would look at the ignition system. Possibly a faulty ignition module or coil ( if you have a single coil ) Multiple it will generally be one coil that goes bad and results in a misfire code. Or if it's the ignition module it might not throw a code at all, And it might test fine if it's had a chance to cool down before it's tested.

95 wrangler yj. has no power at high speeds

Have you had fuel pressure tested, and/or filter changed. Have you checked for plugged exhaust, such as catalytic converter? Quite often engine will also run a little hotter than normal when exhaust is plugged.

Jeep Wrangler 1998 straight drive has difficult times going into reverse gear. I don't drive it every day, usually towing it behind my RV. It seems better when I drive it more, but is still difficult to...

if this is a 5 speed manual transmission...all you need to do before putting your jeep into reverese is puting it into first gear and then shifting it to reverse to avoid any grinding or problems shifting into reverse...this isn't a problem just a poor jeep design by not installing an extra gear to eliminate this grinding or shifting problem

1998 Jeep wrangler s/spot stuck in 4 wheel drive

This sounds like the linkage could have fallen or broken off. Have someone move the 4wd shifter while you look under the vehicle.
