I have a 1999 4x4 gmc sierra 4.8L V8. I just installed a new stereo and it works fine. The dash, however, is a little goofy. The gear indicator on the dash was dimming when the stereo was turned up. I fixed that by moving the ground to the right spot on the radio wiring harness. I do have another problem though; the dash boards back lights arn't getting power. I tried all the fuses, there is no illumination wire to the stereo, the bulbs are good, and i havn't seen any relays for it. I know the dimmer switch does work, because when I turn it up all the way, the interior light comes on. I've been searching online for weeks now and have yet to find an answer. Please help

SOURCE: Fog Lights won't work

Definitely a ground. Clean everything with light sandpaper. Follow any/all wires and see where it grounds, clean there too. If all else fails, run a new ground wire from the frame to the exact spot you got the bulbs to work (a workaround that usually remains permanent on my cars!).

SOURCE: fog lights not turning on

Sounds good to me except, the switch light shout be on the relay primary circiut and light off until you turn it on. When you turn the switch on, it lights up and energizes the relay, the relay closes and completes the secondary circiut for ythe fog lights. VIOLA' I have a silverado. done deal thanks

SOURCE: I have a 2002 GMC sierra 1500. Instrument Lights Not Working

When dash lights don't work odds are the tail lights don't work either.Sounds like Dimmer switch may be a problem.

Service 4 wheel drive message comes on and no lights for 2and 4 wheel drive come on. On my 2004 gmc

Often lights under a dash or indicators just blow out bulbs. If more than one thing isn't lighting and are centralized check fuses to see if its blown. Bulb or fuse. IMHO. MIGHT be a sensor on tranny too. Hope not.

Here's a video with detaile dinstrauctions and other people's fuse questions. New fuses?

MY ODOMETER LIGHT IS OUT ON MY 2001 GMC SIERRA 1500. HOW DO I REPAIR THIS?

on most vehicles you have to remove the dash board to do this , but in rare occasions you can reach it from under the dash . P.S. it takes little tiny bulbs that are a pain from under the dash

2000 gmc sierra 1500 5.3 v8. a/c heater control problem

your heat/cool and vent selection options are controlled by engine vacuum through small clear tubes attached to the rear of your climate control interface. Other vehicles have small steel pull wires that operate the desired changes. You might try removing the trim and any fasteners affiliated with the interface/console. GENTLY pull outward and look to see if any of these tubes are pulled off or cut/damaged. Did anyone recently install a new stereo in the vehicle? If so, the vacuum tubing and or pull wires that change your outlets could have been damaged when the stereo unit was pushed into place. Hope this helps

Installing an aftermarket stereo, spliced the wires and have everything connected including the remote wire to the factory amp wire but still no sound.

There is no remote wire on these newer trucks....03 and up....u have to buy the harness....although i didnt....i have an 03 gmc sierra and just pulled the schematic and matched the wires. And there is no programming to do on an aftermarket stereo.....I work for GMC and we cant program aftermarket stereos......if u buy the right harness ...and its over $100 then everything should work just fine.....and this does not disarm ur alarm system either....mine still works fine....hope this helps

Trying to install an aftermarket stereo 1994 GMC 1500

You have to unplug the old radio. The radio isn't the part in the dash. That is just the control to the radio. The radio is actually under the dash above the accelerator pedal. It should have the power wires, speaker wires and antenna wire going to it.

I AM WANTING TO INSTALL A SONY DECK INTO MY 2005 SIERRA GMC

This should be simple for you as i just did this recently. all you really need is a phillips screwdriver. first just use your fingernails in the groove to pull / pry off the harder plastic frame piece of the dash that wraps around the stereo, spedometer, air vents ect. You will have to move the steering wheel all the way down and play with the shifter (if automatic) to get it all the way off. it is only held on by clips and should come off and on fairly easy. After you get that off there are three scews that connect the stereo to the dash. just remove them and the whole piece should pop out.
