I have a 08 Police Dodge Charger....while the car is running and in park I cannot lock the doors with the door lock or the keyless entry remote. Do you know of any way to bypass this. As a police officer, its important to be able to lock the doors. If I could find a wiring diagram I may be able to figure out something to change this....thanks

Its called a multi functional switch in your steering column. The part is 525.00 at the dealer but can get online for about 365.00. Normally the high beams work and lows do not. 1.2 hours to replace this part.

I have a the same problem as ssmith 238's I found two options 1 start the car with the mechanical key and when you reach your destination shut off the car and imediatly start the car and the key fob will lock and un lock your car. 2 lock your door manually with the knob but then you will have to use the manual key. if some one has a better way let us know please.
I have the same problem and it sucks. Is there any way to have a dealer change the settings? What is the point of keyless entry when you can't enter without a key?
+1. As a police offier I may have to lock my doors with the remote while the car is running or open the trunk when the car is running. There must be a way to override or disable this "feature".
