Electronic throttle control light on 2008 dodge caliber

About 2 weeks ago i was driving, while accelerating the Electronic Throttle control light came on and i lost power. i pulled over turned the car off and then turned it back on and the car was fine. the next day it happened again only this time my car stopped on the highway. i had to get it towed into carmax where i had purchased the car 2 months prior. when they called me to tell me what was wrong they said 2 of my ignition coils had gone bad and they needed to be replaced. they also recommended replacing the spark plugs in case they were damaged... here we are 2 weeks later and it has happened again. and my car has been towed back again... can anyone help me with what it could be and why they would say ignition coils were the problem when the throttle light came on?

I had the same thing happen to me about a week ago and it was the Electronic Throttle Control. It will stick due to carbon build up. Car was towed to the Dodge garage and ETC replace and carbon cleaned out. Cost me $658.00. Yep that's a hefty price to pay but so far no other problems.

SOURCE: The electronic throttle control light is flashing in my 2004 1500 5.7 Hemi truck, won't accelerate but does turn on, where should i start?

The 1st thing that MUST be done is to have the electronic engine control system computer (called the "PCM") scanned for fault codes, this gives you the starting point for diagnosis od why the warning/fault light is on. You can get the scan for fault codes done for free at any Autozone or similar discount auto parts store in your area. Aamco Transmission does the scan for free as well.

SOURCE: Electronic Throttle Control light

I had this problem with my 2004 Ram with 5.7 Hemi. The check engine light would come on, it had a hesitation at a certain rpm range and would shut off on me from time to time. Took it to my mechanic and he said the electric throttle sensor wasn't reading correctly and my EGR valve was out. He fixed both problems, but then had to send the truck to the Dodge dealer to get the computer reflashed and the dealer is the only one that can do it. Cost about $500, but after that, no more problems. Better performance and fuel mileage.

Red lightning bolt on 2008 Dodge Ram 5.7 hemi truck won't start, drove it to the vets came out and nothing...

The lightning bolt on the dash means that there is a problem with the electronic throttle control system in your vehicle. Get a code reader and scan the engine for any logged codes. The light may be on for a glitch and the electronic throttle control system needs to be reset.

To reset the Dodge Ram throttle position sensor(TPS), You need to turn on the ignition without Your foot on the brake, so the engine doesn't start. Then press the accelerator on the floor for 15 seconds. Release the accelerator. Then turn the car off and start the engine and drive.

How do I solve for My Hyundai sonata model 2009 code P2110 , P2118 in scaning. I changed throttle body and TP sensor. after change of these even I am getting problem in accelerator not increases above

P2110...Faulty Throttle Actuator Control Module
- Throttle Actuator Control Module harness is open or shorted
- Throttle Actuator Control Module circuit poor electrical connection

P2118 - Electronic Throttle Control(ETC) system is made of the components throttle body, Throttle Position Sensor(TPS)1&2 and Accelerator Position Sensor(APS) 1&2. The throttle body contains the actuator, the throttle plate and the throttle position sensor (potentiometer), which are integrated in one housing. The actuator consists of a DC motor with a two-stage gear. The opening angle of the throttle valve is detected by the throttle position sensor which is mounted on the throttle body. And it provides feedback to the ECM to control the throttle motor in order to control the throttle valve opening angle properly in response to the driving condition.

First, take a look at is the the mechanical throttle or electronic throttle mechanical, recommended to check PULL catching, is electron words, recommended to check the pedal, harness and electronic throttle.

Electronic Throttle Control Indicator Light dodge caliber 2007

Stop using the car--period

Have it checked for codes, road tested &
diagnosed

I think you have very bad ignition coils that
put it into failsafe

They are so bad they spike the computer &
take out the throttle postion sensor signal &
you get ETC Failsafe

Can't use it like that-- it will ruin the exhaust converter

2008 Dodge Ram 2500 Hemi. Electronic Throttle Control light is on. No accelerator response. Idles fine. Starts fine.

You need the dealer on this one, sorry but since the part is sold as the entire throttle assembly and it is very expensive it must be properly diagnosed. Do not just throw a new throttle body on the engine as it may not fix the problem.
