I have a 2006 chev Epica, I am having problems as it intermittently will not start. I call a tow truck and when they get there it starts. It seems to be related to the shift, but they changed the switch and it is still doing the same thing, however sometimes if I push and hold the shift down on a second attempt to start, it works. What should I have looked at? Is there a risk of it just stopping while I am driving?

i have a 2006 chevy cobalt LT..and i just replaced my oil filter today!!! after several hours of looking i finally looked on the front side of the transmission block.to the left just below the air intake system is a hard heat resistant plastic black bolt topper.it is 1 1/4" in size..i bought a 1 1/2" size and a 36mm size socket torque wrench..both didnt work..1 1/2 was way too big, the 36mm was just slightly too big..took them back, replaced for the 1 1/4" inch socket and voila!!! is was rather difficult..you will need an extender and some good torquing to do to pop it..but once you do it will pop fine..oh, and you will need a 1/2" drive socket wrench.but the 1 1/4"inch socket..pop it onto a 1/2" drive socket wrench with the extender and you are good to go!!

sounds like you should start by dropping the pan and changing the filter, put cheap fluid in it or reuse the old fluid if its not too bad bring it to a shop and have a transmission flush performed with a good flush machine your valve body is sticking and this should clear things up please rate -jeff
SOURCE: I need to reset my computer on a 2006 chev equinox
there are 2 ways to do this, use a scan tool ($50 for a basic one) to reset the light, the other is to disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes, be advised if the problem is not corrected that set the light the light will come back on in about 20 miles, also if the system is not ready u will fail smog, this means they (person doing the smog) know there was a problem.
SOURCE: 03 Chev 1500HD Ran out of gas. now wont start
Same thing happened to me it was just a fuel pump fuse under the hood. The fuel pump is located in the gas tank, it uses the fuel that is pumped through it for cooling. When the pump runs dry it gets hot and draws too many amps.
The dealer screwed you.
You cannot run out of gas in these Silverados unless you have a spare fuse on hand. Luckily after a bit of troubleshooting I figured this out on the side of the road before I had to have it towed.
