Transmission problems 2000 Legacy GT

When I started my car everything came on like normal except the low beams, thinking nothing of it I put the car in drive and nothing happened. I tried to use all of the other gears and reverse is the only one that works. Could the headlight problem be related to my transmission trouble ?

SOURCE: car wont roll forward or back even in neutral

I assume it's a manual transmission.
If the car will not roll backward or forward in neutral (with or without the clutch engaged) the transmission is most likely locked in two gears at the same time.
This may happen if gear selectors are excessively worn. If you are able to examine the gear selection levers external to the gearbox, ensure they are in the 'neutral' (no gear selected) position when the gear lever is in Neutral. If not in correct position, you may be able to manually reset the levers to correct neutral position and thereby unlock the gearbox.
In any case, if it's happened once, it will happen again, so get the gearbox and gear selection mechanism checked for wear or breakage.

Right low beam stopped working, where is the ground wire run to check that

Do the high beams work?

The ground point is on the apron ( the inside of the fender, just behind the headlight). There is one on each side. From the wiring diagram, there is just a splice connecting power to the lights in parallel for the high and low beams, but the grounds are separate.

If the RH high beam and the LH low beam works, then it is not a ground problem. You could just tap the LH wires to power the RH, but I think that if you look closely the connector for the bulb is probably melted. If that is the case then you will have to splice on a new connector.

The colors are as follows:

RH --> low beam power ( light blue)
LH --> low beam power (white OR light blue)
BOTH high beams --> ( red/white stripe)
Ground --> Black

Sorry, The diagram is too large a file to upload.

Here are the issues with my 2000 Subaru Legacy L with 5 speed manual transmission: 1. ABS light illuminates when transmission is put in reverse and remains illuminated until car is turned off. 2. Reverse...

These assorted problems usually come from the control modules, in this case the transmission control module (TCM)
First, reset al ECM' by removing the battery negative terminal for a minute or so then re-fit it. This reset should cure all your problems. If not I shall consult my TSB's after you post the results of the reset.

My 1997 Subaru Outback Legacy Limited started jerking when in Drive- between first and 2nd gears. I then started driving in 2nd / 3rd, then drive. When in traffic very long time, would not engage at all...

Sounds like the transmission has reached the end of service life. I have a 93 that did the same thing. It would drive until the transmission heated up then nothing, except for reverse. I had a TRW rebuild transmission installed and now my 93 Legacy has 500,000 miles. $2,200 to repair vs $25,000 to replace. The only thing you would miss is the new car smell for a few weeks. But you can keep $20,000 plus.
