Several things can cause what you're experiencing and many of them are fairly inexpensive to fix (of course, some are not).
If you have warning lights emitting, that's a good thing. It can make diagnosing the problem much easier. You need to get a scanner (available at most auto parts stores) or take it in and have it scanned. Some parts stores (such as AutoZone) or now offering free diagnostic scanning. If you make a few calls, you'll be able to find someone to do it for next to nothing (if not nothing).
When you provide what codes are coming up when the vehicle is scanned, we can help you target the cause of your problem. I'm guessing that one of your sensors has given up.

If you don't hear any ticking or knocking while the pressure gauge drops, the problem is probably a failing "oil pressure sensor". If you do hear a ticking or knocking, the problem is probably a failing "oil pump".

u Have a problem with the oil sending unit. The sensor is located beack right side of the engine block. Take out the switch and make sure u have good oil PSI. Should be 6 psi at idle and around 50 at 4000 RPM. If the presure is ok replace the switch they are very cheap about 20 bucks. Please rate.

This could be a faulty oil pump. or more commonly a bad oil pressure sensor you can call. If its the pump i recomend you have it fixed as soon as possible. The check gauges lights up because the oil pressure isnt as much as required. But common problem is the sensor replace the sensor and the engine oil along with a filter hope this solves your problem.
