BMW Z3 OBC/Clock Dispay "PPP" but nothing else

Hi, I has been jumping around the net looking for an answer on the "PPP" message displayed on the OBC/ Clock of my 1998 Z3 2.8 Liters.
Since I have removed the battery ( in order to perform a ordinary clean up to the trunk) the Display just shows continuously the "PPP" message and never goes off ( does not matter if the car is On or Off).
My OBC / Clock does not have any reset button ( at least visible from the exterior) but only two Buttons ( S/R and the Clock).

Regards

SOURCE: 2000 BMW Z3. When it rains and my car is parked

I had this same problem - 2 things to check:
Most likely it's the 3rd brake light - check the seal on the inside (you need to remove the black plastic cover inside the boot lid to be able to see - this has 4 or 6 little tabs that hold it in place and break very easily, so take care as you remove it. I suggest using a blunt knife or similar to ease it out). I had mine replaced not that long ago and as far as I can recall they're pretty inexpensive.
Also check the rubber seal that goes all the way round the boot opening, make sure it's attached all the way round and has no defects.
Hope that helps!

SOURCE: 1996 BMW Z3 trunk wont open with key

It may be that the rod from the lock tumbler to the latch may have come loose.

Water leak in boot

Hi marsnange,

One of the most common problems I see with the Z3 water leaks in the trunk comes from the 3rd brake light lens. You can open the lid, and check for a leak while pouring a little water around the lens. Another common leak is from the trunk seal itself. Look for tears, holes and any deformities in the gasket. The is a slight probability the antennae base could be leaking. The rubber based should not look cracked or deteriorating.

Where can I locate the 8 character body number on the car : BMW roadster Z3 2.8, 1997. The manual says "under the base of the windcsreen or in a plastic packet or on the suspension cylinder"...

Lift passenger wiper blade and look bottom of screen
Or lift bonnet and look for number stamped around top of suspension strut
This number is vehicle VIN
Should match VIN on your log book

BMW Z3 WRONG UNLOCK RADIO CODE HOW TO GET THE RIGHT ONE

If the radio is displaying code wait, or wait, then the ignition and radio must remain on for 1hour. I would contact a dealer within the USA and provide them with your radio serial number. The serial number can be displayed in the radio by pressing and holding down the "M" button while turning on the ignition.

Ppp displayed on trip computer 1998 z3 bmw

you need to replace the whole OBC/clock unit. Don't go to ebay. I just checked them out, they want $175+ for them. e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll pick you up one for way cheaper at my salvage yard. Or, join any of the different bimmer forums online and you can get a plethera of parts for great prices.
