The check engine light will set a code, to read this code you must have the system scanned with a special tool. This is not a wiring GREMLIN, trust me. As far as the gas gauge goes you will need to pull the fuel tank out and replace the gas gauge fuel level sending unit.

Engine problem starts and turn off

Someone would need to check base fuel pressure with a gauge before and after cranking the engine.
Could be the fuel pump, filter, or the pump relay.

Still have check engine light problem.I replaced the gas cap and finally got the right one.Now what happens is sometimes the engine light stays out and speedometer works .Then it seems when I shut the car...

Richard, I've been racking my brain about this and it dawned on me how to retrieve your codes without a reader. With OBD1, there is a 12 pin plug-in under your dash . It should be around the fuse box area. It's long and skinny, 2 rows of 6 pins each. It should also be lettered and /or numbered. Two pins should be marked "A" and "B". Use a piece of wire and jump between the A and B. This will trigger the check engine light to flash in a sequence. This sequence will be the engine code. One long flash is a 10, so 2 long flashs will be 20, etc. Short flashs are 1's, so 3 short flashs would be 3. The codes are all 2 digits.so if you have more than 1 series of long and short flashs, there is more than one code. If I remember right the key needs to be on for this. With the codes in hand, simply type "1992 Buick engine codes" into your search engine and there will be several sites that will list the codes free. Hope this helps.

Where do I find the wires that I apprently need to cross to get the check engine light to flash in order to get the codes?

Remove the kick panel just beside the left foot rest on the driver's side.
2) Locate blue wires.
3) Locate black connector. Hold it notch up.
4) With ignition off, insert one of the wires into top row, 2nd pin from left.
5) Turn key to on position, but do not start the car.
6) Watch blinky check engine light on dashboard. Count blinks. Long blinks = 10, Short blinks = 1.
7) Keep watching blinky light until you get mesmorized.

To clear codes (after problem has been resolved):
1) With engine off, stick the blue wires to 1st and 2nd pin in the top row counting from left on the

black connector, with notch facing up.
2) Start car. Shut off car. Remove pins.
3) Read codes to make sure they are clear. No codes = steady blinks at 1/4 second intervals. yhis is for the 94, 92 should be the same. have a good day !!

hi if the check engine light comes on i would start by changing fuel filter or fuel pump, however sometimes sensors dont trigger the check engine light and if it doesnt come on i would pull out the cam and crank sensors and clean them as they maybe dirty and causing the spark to die randomly

Shift it into neutral and try. If it starts, the neutral safety switch needs to be adjusted. Some have made a starter bypass mode using a relay feeding the started directly from the battery. Check out Subaru-svx.net

Red check engine light is on in 92 SVX what could be causing this fault does anyone have the list of fault codes? air bag light is also on but not critical just bugs me having it on. Craig

fault codes for the 1992 Subaru SVX may be available through autozone.com's website if you input the year, make, model and then click the Repair Info. tab.

I cannot copy and paste the entire document to fixya.com as it is too large, and also it is copyrighted.
