I had the brake light switch replaced by a local dealer. Cost was $140 and it fixed the problem. Have driven the car for two weeks since and no lights and all systems normal.

jack the car up saftely then take the wheels off .. then you will see the brake calipier turn the wheel towards you so the calipier is facing you . at the bottom of the calp you will see a small bolt at bottom undo this and lift prize the calp up then remove 1 pad the inside on where the piston is then put calp back down and put the bolt back in just to hold it in place then when you have done this put a large stronge screw driver in via hole in front to push the piston all the way back but make sure you do the evenly and piston goes in straight or it will get stuck same with all types of brakes. once you have done this reopen calp and take the other pad out clean all area with a wire brush and replace the new pads in place,, and retighten bolt etc , before you start the other side please make sure you pump brake peddle until it goes hard again. then do same to over side ,
hope this is a great help matdav69
SOURCE: p0431 code on audi allroad 02
Typcally caused by one of the front oxygen sensors or a bad ground associated with these sensors.Replace both front sensors with direct fit type NOT universal, because there may be a cracked wire and the universal sensor does not contain the complete wire harness. Direct fits, are about $20 more than universal fit type.
The O2 sensors have integrated heating elements that bring them up to the proper operating temperature. Code P0431 indicates that the O2 sensor on your driver side catalytic converter is not reaching the proper operating range. The O2 sensors are usually in the $150 range online.
