Why does my automatic key lock on my 96 land rover discover not working

Why does my automatic key lock on my 96 land rover discover not work??? When I try to lock my car doors from the outside key lock my locks will not go. I have to manually lock all my doors. I have tried to just push the driver side lock down and it pops right back up like it should.

SOURCE: how do i turn on the cruise control for a 96 land

Like many cruise control systems there are the working controls and sepearate master power switch that can disable cruise control so it can't be turned on accidentally. The working controls to set speed, acc and off are on the steering wheel. There is a master power switch though on the center area of the dash next to the left of heater controls on a US model. It is a picture of a road running straight under an overpass.

The system is vaccumm controlled though and if you have a vaccumm leak it will not work. They are pretty easy to fix though and easy to see. Open the hood and find the throttle body assembly. Look for the throttle cable and in that area there should be a black soft plastic hose about the thickness of a pen. If this is diconnected from any connectors or cracked the cruise control won't work. Good Luck!

SOURCE: land rover discovery central locking.

No, likely to be caused by the actuators in the lock mechanism failing usually causing the door to remain locked. The boor door can also fail this way, as do the front side doors. Replacement requires the whole lock unit to be replaced at a cost of roughly £60 a lock, and a hours work. Helps if you have small hands. Requires a full strip down of the door and you will need the lock unit, trim clips (a few quid) and a trim removal tool (tenner). You can bodge with a flat head screwdriver, but the tool does help prevent damage to the clips & trim panel.

The differentials should be disengaged or you going to do damage. They should only be locked in when moving at low speeds.
