The EPC light has come on my car-the manual says its the engine management light but the car is driving perfectly normally. Have had problems with warning lights on the car for a couple of years since went into garage for a different problem....Do I need to take this car to the garage when it seems to be driving well .........Desperately need the car for work as I can't get there by public transport but am on very tight budget!
My Polo had a similar problem and the brake light switch at the brake pedal was replaced. Then the computer was reset and the EPC light issue was resolved. It has something to do with the engine management, when sensing the light switsh being activated, retarding the power of the engine.
Hi there,
Try removing the negative battery terminal for 3 minute and out it back, let the car idle for 10mins and see if the light goes off.
If it doesn't work then you've got no choice of going to the workshop.
Cheers.
I had the same problem with the management light,I got a diagnostic tool off ebay for£24 it diagnosed a voltage drop problem which activated the light.......I just reset the fault code and it cured the problem.hope it helps
ps It was easy to use
There is a VW Polo website that may address you problem. It would be worth your while to go have a look. http://volkswagen-polo-highline.blogspot.com
Hi, can someone offer some advise please. I have a 2005 VW Passat 1.9TDi highline. The engine management light has come on together with EPS and stays on. I have bought an Autel OBD11 code reader to check for the fault codes. After plugging this in it does NOT record any faults found but the lights are staying on the dashboard -. I have removed the battery to try a reset but the lights still stay on. I can start the engine and it seems responsive under acceleration but am worried about driving it - any ideas please?.
They give a lot of oxygen sensor problems plus head valves at small milage.if the engine is not missing you are not in any immediate danger ,but will need to be sorted.
Eat **** possibly
These are all good for a quick fix... however, my brake lights don't show, I have read on other forums that it could be the radiator fluid aswell - these are all things which could cause the light to come one.
In my case it is either a faulty bulb, fuse or switch. Best plan is to get it checked out!
