You can't adjust it, it is controlled automatically by a computer, if the idle is high there is a problem with the system.

SOURCE: my 4.6 idles erratically.

try the following, if that doesn't correct it u may need to replace the air bypass valve.
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

SOURCE: Adjusting headlights on 2002 Crown vic

I noticed this is 6 months old so I don't know if you have figured it out yet but heres an answer for you. On the back of the headlights there are 3 plastic heads, they turn but spray some wd40 or something on them first. You might have to take the headlights assembly out to get a good bite on them.

SOURCE: 2007 crown vic 4.6 l idles high on startup

This sounds like a normal condition. What happens is the cold start emission reduction component monitor(software program in the computer) is running.
Cold Start Emission Reduction Component Monitor
The Cold Start Emission Reduction Component Monitor was introduced for the 2006 MY on vehicles that meet the
LEV-II emission standards. The monitor works by validating the operation of the components of the system
required to achieve the cold start emission reduction strategy, namely retarded spark timing and elevated idle
airflow.
When the CSER strategy is enabled, the idle air control system will request a higher idle rpm, elevating engine
airflow. While this CSER elevated airflow is requested, the low airflow test compares the measured idle airflow from
the MAF sensor to the commanded idle airflow from the idle air control strategy.

SOURCE: 1988 Ford Crown Vic Strange Idle

When you turn the key on does the check engine light come on? If not it may be burned out. It sounds like a MAP sensor or an O2 sensor is bad. I would suggest taking it to autozone as they do free diagnostic and seeing if a code comes up. If it is a sensor it should, if not it may be the idle sensor not reading right in the ECU. More than likely it is one of the sensors though.

Stalling crown vic

Dependent on what year you have. If it has an idle speed motor that could be cleaned as well as the throttle body. Idle speed motor may need to be replaced sometimes a good cleaning hooks them right up.

How do u adjust the idle on a 2001 ford crown vic? Just put in TPS and its idling at about 3.

the idle is factory set, you need to make sure you installed the tps correctly, it fits onto the throttle body with a notch in the switch if its on the notch properly you should be able to turn the switch and feel the switch turn internally before installing the attaching screws, if it has sloted mounts you need to adjust it, if its out of adjustment the idle will drasticly be affected

1985 ford crown vic ltd 352 200k miles been running good burns NO oil.\r\ndriving at night engine shuts down. I turn lights off, wiggle turn signal switch and it starts again. Once I was making a right...

I dont see if the turn signal light has to do any thing with the engine shutting off, make sure the IAC idle air control valve is working, air filter is good, fuel filter is good and IF your vehicle has a power steering pressure switch then that could be causing it but with 1985 Crown Vic I dout it.

Just picked up and 85 Crown Vic with 69k miles on it. Starts right up, but idle is very high. It sat for over a year in a garage without running, but fired right up when jumped. Where can I fine tune-up...

This should be fuel injected. But it is throttle body and it is an early one. It has a choke coil mounted to the passenger side of the throttle body. It doesn't run a choke it just controls fast idle. It might be bad or unhooked. Check for power on this.
