My 2002 honda started slipping into first at times not too bad ran great the last couple days now this morning i turned it on the check engine light is on and it has no first gear. I checked the fluid and it is full I had the brake on and you can hear it shoft to D4, D3, 2 sounds rough and nothing for 1, did the ****** really go out already?? its has 109K on it
SOURCE: where is the tcu in a 2002 honda accord
it is the Transmission Control Unit. you have to find the reason why the TCU is flashing the D4 fault code. not replace the unit. have your vehicle scanned for another code. your transmission or transaxle is giving you a warning that something is wrong .
SOURCE: Rough shifting automatic transmission on Honda Accord from 1st to 2nd gear
it has a problem with the second gear drum it cracks and does not fully engauge the n shifts to 3rd ..many honda owners also learn the 8 bucks a quart is the only fluid to pour in a honda..but remember 3 qaurts per drain and fill the tranny holds 7q ....it will take a case to do a drain flush...a high pressure flush will ruin a automatic tranny with alot of miles or metal deposits floating around inside..DRAIN AND FILL 3 QUARTS AT A TIME NO GASKET NEEDED ITS BUILT AND DESIGNED LIKE A MANUAL TRANNY

Horsecrap...go to an independent transmission dealer after you call the extended warranty folks and complain!
I can count the number of Honda transmissions that go bad before 300,000 miles on one hand.
Good Luck
