When I floor the gas while idling, the car chokes and misses then slowly the RPM goes up. Sometimes the car would choke until it backfires. When driving, I would move off and it would **** and **** so bad that it feels like the car will fall apart. I replaced the plugs, wires, oil, gas and oil filters, TPS sensor, took off ans cleaned the EGR and the idle control valve and still no result. I don't know what else to do, i took the car to 2 mechanics and they plugged the scanner in to see if any codes or bad sensors would come up but nothing showed up, as a matter of fact the meter read " SYSTEM PASS" but still jerks and chokes. Please help me, anyone.
More then likley,thortel cntrol switch is not working right.it will not show on the compu.disconnect power,reconnect,maybe it will fix it.

there is a tube coming off of the iac that causes that , it needs to be replaced

Check fuel filter, Did this happen after you changed the plugs and wires or before?

I just had the same problem with my '02 altima SE.
Took it to Buckeye Nissan in Hilliard OH. and they had to replace the two crank sensors which.
The sensors themselves were about $44.00 a piece, but w/labor about $300.00 was the total. Hope this helps.....Now if I can just get the heater working!

Had the same problem with my 1999 Blazer (S10) a baffle broke loose in the catalytic converter causing exhaust blockage while accelerating. When idling or driving slowly the baffle did not shift enough to cause a problem. Replaced the catalytic converter from Pep Boys (direct fit) for about $150. Had to get the gaskets at NAPA though. Runs like a top now. Hope this helps. PS: sell the catalytic converter to a recycling place. Good for a few bucks due to the platinum in the converter.
It can be issue
with IAC( idle air control valve) causing the problem.
There
are many other possibilities causing these idle issues. Engine idles rough.

actually this was happening before i changed the oil and filters, it just remains after i did. I went and check the wires to make sure they were correct and they were. I'm sorry when i said the car was backfiring, it wasn't coming from the exhaust, it was more like a POP...POP backfiring sound coming from the air intake area by the the air filter area. Someone told me it could be a vacum leak in the intake. What do you think?
