97 Monte carlo coolant leak engine passenger side

I have a 3100 engine. Does anyone know if coolant circulates in the front cover of engine on which the coolant pump is mounted. I have a coolant leak and not sure if it is the head gasket or the front cover gasket leaking. I know its not the intake manifold gasket. I took the alternater, power steering pump, and mounting brakets off to see where it is leaking. It is leaking between the Head Gasket, and the gasket for the front cover. It looks like it is leaking from the front cover gasket, but I need to know if coolant is in there. Any help will be appreciated. Thank You, Dennis

SOURCE: How do I remove the heater inlet pipe from lower

you may have to ist remove the belt and the alternator.there should be one bolt through a bracket on the pipe holding it to the engine. then just wiggle and twist it until it comes out.the o ring is sometimes aseperate part.do not use a generic one.

Testimonial: "Thanks! I wasn't sure if it was held in with o ring and could be just "wiggled" out. "

If you suspect that intake is bended, send it in a machine shop to chechk if it is flat, and if necesary to machine it before installing the new gasket.

SOURCE: coolant is leaking from passanger side on my 98

the best way to do this is a pressure test and see where the leak is coming from it can be from the intake gasket, its going to be a guessing game unless you do the pressure test

Generally speaking, if there are no external leaks, odds are the engine is burning the coolant out the exhaust pipe due to a leaking intake or head gasket.

It's a 99% chance of water pump leak or the housing at the timing chain that the water pump sits on.
Water pumps can and do leak one minute then seal themselves.
A cheap fix most use is go to a 7 lb pressure cap on the rad.
