Esp light is on. came on after I removed fuses trying to solve rear spoier problem which i think is now ok. pasted mot yesterday, garage said no problem with esp itself

Your bulb might be burnt since most bulbs that are use for brake light and blinker are also used for lighting the same rear position light. But have you checked the front blinker when this happens? Some cars will act this way when a bulb is burnt. Good luck

have it plugged in at your local garage and if it comes up with right rear wheel speed sensor faulty then dont panic!!
usually if you remove the sensor and clean up the area where it sits with some sand paper or a file and re fit it then it should be fine

I bought a 2000 polo 1.4 yesterday after having an MOT. The warning lamp came on today but the car is running fine. Whether its the Lambda sensor or just the light itself is a common fault, I think garages turn off the lights to get it through the MOT then they come on again in a day or two!

Sounds like you have blown the fuse to this circuit.
Check you were supplied the correct bulb and replace fuse.
