Car has been overheating for a while. I have been turning on the Heat full blast to cool it down, which has been working until recently. Air Conditioning causes it to over heat faster. Stop and go causes it to overheat faster. I can usually make it about 10 minutes worth of driving before the car gets in the red part of the heat gauge.

When your car is running you should have your head engine checked for temperatures over 200F. If its not over 200 then its not over heating and you'll have to get your gage fixed. Make sure its not over heating because you can damage your head and that's going to cost you an arm and a leg. Make sure when you get it fix that they place your thermostat back that way its working properly with your emission control.

Hi,
To start with you have to do this:
With the engine cold, start the car and say after 30 to 40 secs. open the radiator cap.
Carefully and slowly, cause if the problem is either in the cylinder block or cylinder head this shows immediately as water would be compressed in the radiator ( even though the motor is still cold ).
If nothing happens and you would not notice any bubbles in the radiator, then we have to talk again.

Classic signs of a bad water pump. When on the freeway, the circulation of coolant through the system is increased due to the speed but once you slow down, it will tend to overheat. Please post back with any other questions or just to rate the solution. Thanks very much!
