I have a 97 F250 diesel with the 7.3 engine. about 120,00 miles, runs grait. just recently i replaced the fuel tank selector, both battery's, and the starter. it started just fine and ran normal. i drove it about 80 miles with no problems. it sat for about 2 weeks and now every time i turn the key it blows the fuel pump/glow plug fuse.
Disconnect your glow plug relay and try it, the relay may be shorted out
witch wires on the relay did you disconnect... there should be 2 heavy wires with 13m nuts and two small wires with 8 or 10mm nuts... try disconnection all four and see what happens. if this is what you did before and it still blew the fuse then try pulling out the fuel pump relay (if it has one i can't remember if the diesels do) and see if the fuse blows then. If the truck dose not have a relay for the fule pump then unplug the pump. The fuel pump should have a plug that is aprox 15 to 20 inches away from it on the frame rail... let me ask you, dose the fuse blow as soon as you turn the key on or dose it blow when you try to crank the engine.
well the fuse must protect another circuit, if your owners manual only lists the glow plug relay and the fuel pumps then you will need a wiring diagram to determine what additional functions are supported by that fuse... other than that i have no other suggestions... sorry

disconnecting glow plug relay didn't work, it's still blowing the fuse.
the fuse blows as soon as i turn the key on. the relay a loss stud on it so i just replaced it.
i tried disconnecting both fuel pumps and the fuse still blows.
