SOURCE: cylinder head ford zetec escort p reg

Stage 1 = 15Nm
Stage 2 = 40Nm
Stage 3 = Plus 90 degrees or quarter of a turn. Good tip is to mark all the bolts after initial torque setting with tip-ex , i.e. all to the front of the car. When you finish they should all point towards the timing belt.
This is also a good way to make sure you don't miss one or tighten one twice if you are distracted since it is not a torque setting. New bolts should be used by the way as they are stretch bolts. Timing of cams - remove cam cover and you will see a slot on the end of the cams. Opposite end from belt. You need to slip a piece of 5mm flat bar or a long 5mm allen key into then so that the bar rests on the face of the head. Engine should be a tdc.
cheers John

If the car won't turn over your immediate problem is with the starter or the battery. subsequently if you have a bad battery you could also have a bad alternator not charging the battery. You problem isn't with the fuel pump as it does not assist the engine in cranking.

Hello friend,
Copied from here
http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/6527-fiesta-zetec-125-tourqe-settings-help/

You will have to use an online converter from Ft/lbs to Nm if you want Imperial.

'the sequence is as follows...

8 - 6 - 1 - 3 - 9
10-4 - 2 - 5 - 7

STAGE 1: tighten to 15Nm
STAGE 2: tighten to 30Nm
STAGE 3: tighten 90 degrees

the camshaft carrier/capa are tightened to 15Nm.'

Could you help me with the ford escort 1600 zetec (1995) twin cam cylinder head torque settings please regards tom

Tightening sequence is (imagining the bolts looking down from the front of the car, top left to right being bolts 1,2,3,4,5 and bottom left to right being bolt 6,7,8,9,10 the tightening order is 8,3,9,2,7,4,6,5,10,1 Draw it out on paper to make it become clear. (it will I promise)
The tightening is done in stages, Stage one being to screw all the bolts in finger tight. Stage two is tightening the bolts in sequence to 20-30nm Stage three is tightening the bolts in sequence up to 40-50nm Stage four is tightening the bolts in sequence by 90-120 degrees. ---- Data checked and double checked, thats the official way to do it.
