SOURCE: Replace starter on 1992 GMC Sierra pickup truck

First thing unhook positive battery cable, unhook main cable on starter selanoid and small wire on selanoid (there may be 2 small wires) There may be a bracket on front of starter that has to be removed, and then the 2 main bolts that hold it to engine block and it should come out.

SOURCE: 1989 GMC Sierra truck doors loose

Hey there. You can purchase a door pin and bushing repair kit to tighten up the hinge area, requires removing the door to replace. If the hinge area is worn to badly, the brass bushings willnot last. Also your window crank handle is held on by a C-clip behind the handle in between the plastic shim and the handle which requires a special tool to remove or a small screwdriver to get the clip off.It is hard to see.The shaft that the handle is on are known to wear also and if thats the case you will need to have the window regulator replaced.Hope this helps.John.

SOURCE: How to replace the thermostat on a 1989 GMC Sierra

The thermostat is located on top of the engine, under
the upper radiator hose. Put a drain pan under the front of the engine, Loosen the clamp on the hose at
the eng. Twist the hose from side to side to break it
loose.(it may be a little stuck) Slowly remove the hose and let drain. Remove the 2 bolts that hold the
thermostat housing,( 1/2" socket or wrench)remove housing. Next, remove thermostat (it may be in the housing) and scrape off the old gasket and sealant.
On the inside of the housing you will see a groove
around the hose inlet, put a little sealant in the groove
to help hold the therm. in place. Install the thermostat
into the groove, with the copper sensor facing out.
Put a little sealant around the mounting surface on
the housing and put the gasket in place, let the
sealant set up for about 15 minutes. Replace the
housing making sure the thermostat stays in the
groove, if it gets dislodged and pinched between the
housing and block, you may break the housing when
you tighten it down. Replace the hose fill with coolant. Before you replace the housing fill the block
with coolant, this will help purge the air from the system. I should have said that a paragraph ago.
I hope this helps you.

Bad starter solenoid most likely. If you can even see the starter (which I doubt) might try tapping it hard with a broom handle which could jiggle the parts in the solenoid and make it start. Otherwise, tow it and replace the starter and solenoid as one part.
