Delica 1997 with 4m40 engine, equipped with fully electronic pump, which seems odd for a start. somebody has cut the harness and removed both ends of the plug to the pump. pump harness and vehicle harness colours don't match and i have no idea how to reconnect the thing. desperately need a wiring diagramme that includes the pump side with respective colour codes

SOURCE: I have a 1994 2.8ltr Diesel (4M40 Mtr), Delica, that conks out
Check glow plugs and glow plug relays , also if it is a Japanese import the fuel pump seals will go if vehicle before series 2 model around before 1997, as low sulphue diesel will make seals leak causing hard starting and stalling for the first few minutes or so, if the seals are gone use viton to replace and never leak again.

SOURCE: I need to do compression
it's simply the total volume of the cylinder and combustion chamber above the piston at the bottom of its travel (referred to as bottom dead center [BDC]), divided by the combustion chamber volume above the piston at top dead center (TDC).
Why is knowing your true compression ratio that important? With today's lower-octane grades of gasoline, it's important not to exceed known maximum allowable compression ratios for various engines or you may experience detonation that will quickly destroy your engine.

Hello
This
engine and the transmission in this car are fully electronically
controlled by a computer called the PCM or TCM for the transmission,
when problems like this occur fault code or codes are set in the
PCM/TCM memory. What must be done now is to have the memory read to
retrieve this fault code. This is called a system scan, the system is
called the OBD2 electronic engine control system. Based on the
results of the fault codes you perform diagnostics and repair the
problem, that can be a sensor, wiring or even in rare cases the
PCM/TCM has failed.
