This code refers to an internal throttle body fault. I have experienced numerous of these problems on this model. Most I have found, are due to oil contamination inside the throttle body caused by a plugged PCV system allowing oil to be pushed into the intake system. The repair I perform to correct this issue is throttle actuator replacement ( oil gets into the electronics/motor ) and PVC system cleaning. This is a relatively expensive repair to correct this problem. However, there are a variety of other reasons that may contribute to this code and the aforementioned may not apply to your vehicle
Possible answer. You will need to dig through potential answers. Most dealers will credit a $100 diagnostic fee to repair charges. If this is emissions issue it may be the most effective investment.
I googled and this is result after the internal code search. http://volvoforums.com/forum/esp_search.php?query=+1999+Volvo+V70+p1053+and+p1026+&ref=esp-nav-bar&type=all http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?14731-Code-P1031-and-P1026-No-Rpms-HELP-!!!
Rather than the complete valve body it may just be connections to the throttle position indicator sensor or it's equivalent. Cleaning connections to bright metal contacts between sensor spades and the connector to remove corrosion on my 93 volvo 240. Returned to normal operation. I suspect road salt or sea salt will cause similar issues in a shorter time.
Each type of car has it's own set of codes. How could anyone possibly know what your car's codes are? They would have to either have the manual or a complete book of codes.
You might be able to research this yourself online.
Or you should call around to a few auto parts stores. Some of them will scan your car for free, and be able to tell you what your car's trouble code means.
