My 1996 vwgolf vr6 borrowed by my cus now has no compression and wont start suspect the headgasket gone because when turning it over the coolant is gushing out of the expansion bottle and i believe he
Am i wasting my time doing headgasket are they prone to warp headand engine block its done 105k but before he hadit it ran sweet as a nut
Re: my 1996 vwgolf vr6 borrowed by my cus now has no...
Oph sorry brother its ****** ,,,, dont waste your time ,,, car not worth the expense ,,,,, its a common problen in that car ,,, may not be his fault .. but if he is a racer make him fix it

Blown head gasket and/or cracked head, cracked or leaking intake manifold. Since the car has run hot, the headgasket is probably damaged either way. On a 4 cylinder engine you are looking at $900 to 1200 range...v6 add another $3 to 400. Possibly more depending on what caused the failure in the first place.
sorry to tell you but you have a blown headgasket or cracked cylinder head. that is why the coolant blows out of the radiator and the engine won't start due to engine compression getting into the cooling system.
I would suspect that there is a crack in the head allowing the coolant to mix into the cylinder, causing white smoke. The coolant is running low after a drive.I also would suspect some air is leaking into the cylinders. It may turn into a headgasket and head pressure test.also a block pressure test. But first do a compression test. And check if there are bubbles coming out of your radiator at the cap. These are signs that show a fault in the leak in the compression and engine.
no compression sounds like the cam belt to me but then iam not a expert on every car thats made ,but the the teeth could have split on the instep on the cam belt so its lost a couple of teeth and its now out of time and possible the valves are crunched
Unfortunately, that first solution is spam.Check your coolant for any signs of oil or the odor of exhaust fumes. Check your oil (dipstick) for any signs of water contamination which can make the oil look cloudy, milky or like Jergens lotion if severe enough. You could have blown headgasket that has failed between a cylinder and a coolant path. This will cause hot gases to be directly leaked into the coolant path and cause overheating regardless of load conditions or ambient temperature. A properly done compression check (checking for excessive bleed-down of pressure) will confirm this.
no-the compression is now bad and u dont want it to start cause the coolant will mix with the oil and destroy your engine berings--get new gaskets soon
sounds like you have a headgasket problem , have your mechanic do a compression check to see..
coolant in oil, oil in coolant, smell of coolant from exhaust, all signs of a headgasket problem..
A blown head gasket doesn't necessarily mean there is water in the oil. Check for bubbles coming into the coolant tank. Take car for a short drive to build up coolant pressure and you should be able to see where it is leaking from a bit easier. It is possibly coming from a heater pipe or core plug.
headgasket can leak and comprssion is compressing air into coolant system as well as burn it.check for white spark plugs ends.start engine cold with cap of off res rev engine if coolant blows out of resivor at you headgasket is fried.
