Jetta GLS - Blowing fuse 14

I have a 2000 Jetta GLS 5s and I am consistently blowing fuse 14 (sunroof/window/remote lock) and it seems to only happen when I open my sunroof. I knew VW was known for their electrical probelms but this is getting annoying. I am assuming it is some bad wiring somewhere, but I have no idea where to even start looking. suggestions?

SOURCE: I need to know correct location for relays as they are mounted above fuses. 98 jetta gls

Hi - I don't know the answer off hand but there is just a chance you could do a Sherlock Holmes job yourself, because many of the relays have unique pin layouts and cannot fit into the wrong place. The numbers may be misleading - on my Sharan some of the relays have numbers which are sideways or upside down when correctly installed! If you find that one relay will go into more than one socket, or more than one relay will go into one socket then you will need further help, but if there is, say, a five pin relay and only one five pin socket, it's got to be right, hasn't it?
If these suggestions do help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my knowledge / guessing skills. If they do not, please add a comment with more details so I can try to help you further. Cheers, D

you should start by checking your brake saftey switch. you have to apply the brake when shifting from park if it is bad it will not allow you to shifft from park.try the cheapest easiest first.

SOURCE: VW Polo 2000 1.4 16V Blowing fuse for Central locking / windows

car electrics are a nightmare. the car lights up when a door is open i presume. and by bypassing the central locking. the electric computer says there is a fault. and will not start. that i think is programed in. best thing to do is. go to phone VW dealer ask about diagnostic test without repair. about £35 then fix it yourself. they garentee it right I think. the dealers have come into line better with that kind of thing phone and ask anyway.

2001 Volkswagen Jetta. The fuse that powers the central locking system the power windows and the sun roof keeps blowing every time I put it in what should I do?

You need a mobile auto electrician to diagnose and find where in those items the dead short is. They will disconnect items one at a time until they find the one that is causing it.

My 06 jetta keeps blowing fuse for heater and heated seats, fan motor sounds good when running

I had the same problem after a weekend trip, I found that the 50 amp fuse in the fuse box under the hood was blow, this other things that stopped working with this was the seat wouldn't adjust, the seat heater wouldn't work, and when we locked the car it wouldn't beep. When searching for the problem I found that the tube going to the window washer in the hood was broken at the hinge and while working on this the short at the fuse location went away and everything started working. I read that the problem was the heated window washer nozzles that were shorting out, if this happens again I will be unplugging them. Now that I fixed that problem the airbag light has came on and will not go off.

put the key into the drivers door and unlock/hold over(the windows will go down)then lock/hold over.the windows will go up/sunroof closes)this should reset the system.if not then you will have to get the car on a diagnostic computer.

2000 VW Golf. My windows and sunroof won't close (no noise, no trying, nothing) but everything else seems to work fine. Any ideas?

Fuse blown - look for the one with the key symbol it powers windows/locks/interior lights/sunroof operation. Then work out why it blows...could be anything on the circuit so check a lock isn't sticking on/off when operating the central locking.
