Shutting Off When At a Stop!

I have replaced the air filter, plugs, wires, coil packs, TPS sensor, cam SENSOR, MAF sensor, fuel filter, fuel line (that was bent), as well as vaccum lines. I can drive it, but have to be in nuetral pressing the gas when at a stop. It doesn't bog down, it just shuts off. Somedays it seems to be doing ok, but all of a sudden it will start and not quit. I'm at a loss, and the proces of eliminations is digging deep into my pockets. Any suggestions of where to go from here.

It has a low oil sensor that will disable the ignition if more than a quart low . It could be a bad ignition switch, I just had to replace one on a Ford bronco that was doing the same thing. Also it is probably time for a fuel pump ( fuel starvation)

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator. Could also be that the timing jumped. But I'm leaning towards the pressure regulator. Hope that I could help. Best wishes.

pull the vac line off going to egr valve and plug off the vac line and drive it to see if it will still stall.but if i was a betting man i would say that it will not die and you will need to replace the egr valve this is a common problem.if it sets a check engine light cause you unplugged the vac hose you can reset by pulling the efi fuse that is under the hood in the fuse block and keep it out for about 30 sec or taking the battery cable off. good luck and i hope this will help let me know how i did and if i can help you any further...........

1990 Buick Park Ave.

clean the idler on the intake and also clean the throttle sensor, it would also be best to change the air filter and clean the maf sensor. Idler does more than just idle vehicle it controls low revs, and drop down from reves. throttle sensor tell ecu what air to add to the fuel. and the MAF tells ecu how much air is coming into the intake. also check for broken cracked vacuum lines.

Year make and model ? Have you checked base fuel pressure hot and cold ?
Some of the components you replaced only adjust fuel mixture, while the MAF and TPS would directly affect acceleration. If any of the sensors were faulty you should have trouble codes. So fuel pressure and volume are often suspect. You could also use starting fluid sprayed into the intake to verify the problem is lack of fuel.

Three things you should check using a good code checker which can read sensor outputs - the throttle position sensor (TPS), the mass air flow sensor (MAF) and the EGR valve. While you are at it, replace the PCV valve.

Hi Iler, have you replaced the air cleaner element and the fuel filter? Take it for a scan and that will pin point the problem. It would seem to me there's a problem with the air flow sensor. Regards Johngee10
