Is it possible that this is an aftermarket alarm system?

Have you checked under the drivers side of the dash for a lot of extra, unorganized wires and/or a reset button?

2002 ranger super cab. Why does alarm keep going off?

Hello. It seems your truck's key fob/remote either has a low battery and/or is 'wearing out'. The computer/alarm becomes 'confused' and can't decide if it should 'arm' or 'disarm'. This also causes slow to no operation of your vehicle's door locks. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

Reset security system in 1999 ford taurus SHO,battery was replaced, now it will not start, because of security system, and also reset door combination, previous owner had no knowledge of the matter

Ok just the battery was replaced do you have a key fob remote control to stop the horn/alarm from sounding if no this is why your stuck in theft mode if you do have one make sure the battery in it is good and the contacts are tight against the battery disc inside it,next you must disconnect the battery cables and wait 3-5minutes then reconnect them when the alarm/horn sounds stop it with the remote and you'll be out of theft mode, if you just got a new fob it has to be programmed into the system by turning your key from off to on real fast until your door locks cycle this is about 8 times in 20 seconds then when the door locks cycle press any button on the remote control to cycle the locks again (lock/unlock)and now the fob is programmed into the system and the battery cable process must be repeated again if you have the manual it tells you the amount of key turns needed but just keep doing it you must be fast and the locks will cycle door code in comments

CAR ALARM ISSUES

It can be any of the car doors not got properly locked or the door is locked but the switch is not sensing the door locked. Open and close each door again properly.

Or else its problem with any of switch wiring getting in contact with alarm wiring causing it to happen.

And last thing alarm connections need to be inspected. It's getting short somewhere in between.

There are few help links with solutions, to troubleshoot these types of problems. I suggest going through these links.

My switch wont turn and alarm keep going off so how can i turn the switch

You can possibly not have the correct key and the door lock caqn be frozen with ice. The lock it'self might not be frozen but the locking mechcaizem may be. Try different doors as all the door locks will reset the alarm even the hatch. Just unlock it twitce and all the doors should unlock and the alarm reset. A locksmith can open the door for you if you think you have a key problem and once oped the battery can be disconnected the doors clsed with the window down and the key in the on position and then connect the battery and the computer will think the car is already on so the alarm will not be on and then you can turn the car to run and start it and get in and go.

When I lock the vehicle, the horn starts honking

Could be a few things, firstly you have little switches on the inside of the door jams these are to put the inside lights on when you open the door, sometimes they stick in so the car thinks the door is open hence the alarm sounds off. You should be able to find them easy enough also check the boot/trunk its slightly different in the boot as it may have metal contacts. if these are not clean and connecting properly then again the car will think the boot is open if they do seem a little stiff spray some WD-40 on then and push in and out until they feel free.

The other thing it could be is the alarm sensitivity, its basically a small screw you turn and it controls the level of the alarm going off, like if its very windy and your alarm keeps going off then you would adjust it to be less sensitive.

Thirdly the car battery may be on its way out or the connection to the battery is lose somewhere, the car will think someone is tampering with it and again go off.

Lastly the car locks may not be completely turning to the lock position kind like they are half way between locked and unlocked although the car will still lock, This is more common on hondas though so less likely on your car!

Try the cheapest option first check them switches on the inside of the door, called pin switches. its very common this time of year if its cold. have a good scout right around each door and, also the bonnet/hood sometimes have this switch once you have seen one you will know what they look like. just make sure they are all connected properly and free them up.

Hope this helps, if itsnot any of them then its a fault on the alarm. Do you have a very small key? if so chaces are its for an aftermarket alarm so you can find the noise making box under the bonnet and turn it to off.

Car Alarm/Door lock

This happened to me too...It turned out to be that my door was out of adjustment, which caused the door position sensor to not know whether the door is closed or open. Sometimes my light on the inside of the door would flash (because the car thought that the door was open). Once the alarm did activate, the car would sometimes think that the door had opened, thus causing the alarm to activate. It was cheap to have fixed...I think it was less than $100 at the dealership.
