It is not very hard. You need to turn the bolt in opposite direction while applying pressure to the back side

SOURCE: serpentine belt replacement

You will only need to locate the fan belt diagram to replace it on correctly and a 1/2 breaker bar or ratchet to back off the tension er while replacing belts check the tension-er bearing if it feels ruff when you turn it replace it. Check water pump also to see if it turns smooth same with the alt.

SOURCE: trying to change a serpentine belt on a 1997

The diagrams for serpentine belts are usually on a sticker underneath the hood or on the crossmember at the front of the engine bay. These will also indicate the location of the tensioner pulley.

You mean replace the tensioner assy , thats a common problem. If it has an idler pully, replace that too. Diagrams are easy to find , even easier if you provide the year and engine size of your car.

2000 grand Prix how to fix belt when it comes off

If it a serpintine belt (meaning one belt runs everything) and it comes off on its own its time for a new belt to install new or reinstall old one . All cars have abelt routing diagram if not google your car and year asking for belt diagram. Locate tensioner usually turns with wrench ( socket or box end is best) route the belt according to dia. leave tensioner for last rotate pully with wrench to get belt over release tension on wrench thats all there is to it. But if belt keeps coming off usually indicates new belt is needed could also need tensioner pully its a good idea to replace both at the same time

How to put supertine belt on 2004 grand prix

Under the hood there will be a routing diagram for the serpentine belt. Use that as a guide for replacement routing. There is an automatic belt tensioner in the loop. Use an appropriate tool to release the tension on the old belt and remove it from the vehicle. Route the new belt as per the diagram and allow the automatic tensioner to re-tension the belt.

(1999 pontiac grand prix 3.1 v6) when I turn my engine on, should my belt tensioner move at all? It moves a bit

its suppose to move up to 1/2", it is spring loaded!! Now if its squealing or chirping at startup or when the engine is revved, the tensioner is probably worn and needs replacing along with the belt!!

1 have a 1992 pontiac grand prix, 3.4L and i need to change out the power steering pump. since the pump is on top of the engine, it should be simple. How do i take off the serpentine belt?

There is a spring laded tensioner on the left (as you look at the belts) there should be a 9/16" boss that a wrench fits on, push or pull and it will release the tension to remove the belt.
