there is no dipstick or filling ports in the engine bay. underneath the car near the valve boby pan there are 2 bolts, one for draining the trans., and one for filling the trans. this is not the easiest of repairs and it is quite messy. drop cloths or some kind of catch would be wise. first drain the pan by removing the lower bolt. allow the fluid to completely drain and reinsert bolt. next remove the larger (valve body) pan. there is a filter that you will see is held in place by 3 bolts, remove filter and replace with new one. clean mating surfaces of all debris and fluids. next apply the gasket to the pan you just removed and cleaned. fill the empty pan with about 3-4 quarts of new ATF. a second pair of hands here is recommended. together realign pan to trans. careful not to spill fluid! apply a few bolts to allow for free hands. insert all bolts DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN BOLTS! this is very important, only tighten bolts until gasket just starts to squish. over tighten and you risk a new leak.

now the messy pain in the **** part. in oder to check fluid level, you need to have car parked on level ground. remove the upper bolt from the pan you just reapplied. You will need some sort of pump and a few feet of hose to complete the filling process. fill until fluid runs back out the hole, quickly insert bolt, tighten to specs. and wipe exterior of pan to see for any new leaks.

this should solve any trans. slips do to ATF seepage.
best of luck

What is an average milage of 2002 Isuzu Axiom, because it seems like I'm fill up my tank every two days.

a smple tune up can help you gas mileage. new spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, right tire pressure, and if you want to go an extra step get a can of carb cleaner, take off your throttle body, and clean it out. i did this to my wifes axiom, its simple and doesnt take much time.

Changed filter, need to know where to put in atf

This veicle has no dip-stick for the ATF, You will need to raise the car and support on jackstands. On the bottom of the tranny pan there are 2 bolts one for drain (the lower one) and the upper one for filling. Here's the tricky part, the fluid will have to be pumped in with the engine running, when it starts to overflow, then it full. Cut engine and tighten fill bolt.

I cannot locate the dip stick to check the transmission fluid level on a 2002 izuzu axiom

The 2002 Axiom does not have a dipstick to check the transmission fluid. The holding tank is on the right side by the brake fluid. Check your levels & fill if needed there. It has a "sealed" transmission.

Oil transmmision

Automatics do not have a dip stick. The transmission pan has two plugs on the bottom, one for filling and one for draining. The fluid must be pumped in the upper plug at running temperature until full.

Leaking transmission fluid.

These transmissions have faulty accumulator piston seals on the transmissions. Get it in and have the dealer fix it before you run the tans low on fluid. These transmissions are very difficult to fill with fluid. My dealer charged me $125.00 for the repair.
