Astrostart 2100 autostart will not work all the time

The vehicle(99 Chevy Silverado 5.3) will remote start when engine is warm and sometimes when it is cold. If it gets really cold out then it doesn't even turn the engine over, just shuts off. Sometimes it will turn engine over and start but immediately shut off. Usually in the summer there is no problem starting, but I don't need it in the summer :) Any thoughts? I tried reprogramming the idle with no affect? Thanks

The truck starts very easily even in the cold. When the truck fires up then quits right away I get a code 12 when I request fail codes. When it doesn't turn over at all I get no code at all. Battery shouldn't be an issue as its fairly new.

It would almost appear that your battery is weak. If the engine doesn't freely turn over the remote start will not work because it recognizes the problem. I would also hope that you plug in your block heater when it's really cold.

Reprogram astrostart j5f tx2000

Get under the dash or where the unit is located.
You will see 8 or 9 dip switches on the unit with an LED beside them.
Turn switch 1 and 8 on.
Press and release the brake. (LED will flash)
Press and hold start button on remote. (LED will flash and parklights will flash once.
Turn switch 1 and 8 to off.
Press and release the brake (LED will flash once)
In future would be a good idea to supply vehicle details etc as can sometimes be a known condition , that saves time looking it up , good luck

Astrostart won't start the car

You may need to reset the system.

SEQUENCE ACTIVATED BY THE PARKING BRAKE .
1. While engine is running (key in ignition switch), apply the brakes and hold the pedal down.
2. Move gearshift lever to neutral.
3. Apply the parking brake Once Twice
Note: The system can be set - at time of installation - to require that the parking brake be applied once or twice.
If set for two actuations, pause one second between the two.
4. Remove key from ignition (the system keeps the engine running).
5. Exit the vehicle.
6. Within 60 seconds, close all doors.
7. The system will stop the engine and blink the parking brakes once to confirm the sequence is valid (vehicle is
ready for a remote start command).
SEQUENCE ACTIVATED BY THE REMOTE CONTROL
1. While engine is running (key in ignition switch), apply the brakes and hold the pedal down.
2. Move gearshift lever to neutral.
3. Apply parking brake.
4. Send the start command (Model 801 & 2101 - Model 903 ).
5. Remove key from ignition (the system keeps the engine running).
6. Exit the vehicle.
7. Using the remote, send the STOP command. The system will stop the engine and parking lights will blink once
to confirm that the sequence is valid (vehicle is ready for a remote start command).

To clarify my problem.... My 99 Chevy Silverado ran out of gas one day. As you know when this happens it sometimes toast the fuel pump... So i did have to replace the feul pump. It was a junkyard fuel pump...

It sounds like the fuel pressure check valve on the fuel pump has gone bad and your losing fuel pressure when engine is turned off. Try priming the fuel pressure twice, that's when you turn the ignition keys to the run position with out starting the engine for 10 seconds and then turning the key's to the off position and on again for 5 seconds. After the second prim the engine should start, to check this you can lone out a fuel pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve. You should have 62 to 65 PSI during prim and once the engine is running, it should drop by 5 psi. As for your the accuracy on reading the right amount of fuel in your gas tank, the sensor is apart of the fuel pump sending unit and the float may have gotten bent and nothing you can do to fix it unless you take the fuel pump out again and replace the sending unit. Good luck and keep me posted.

The Ignition and autostart

Sound like a reversal of wires on the autostart. Should only cut out if you don't have the key in ignition and apply brake. Did you have this installed or was it in when you bought the vehicle?

1996 Chevy Silverado 1500 Starting Problems

Just from what you said it sounds like your vehicle might not be holding its residual pressure which means after you turn a vehicle off, your fuel injection system should hold a certain amount of pressure in the system, but if that pressure drops to fast your vehicle may have a hard time starting. Things to look for when you lose fuel pressure is the fuel pressure regulator may be leaking, fuel pump check valve, leaky fuel injector or they maybe a small leak in one of the fuel lines. I only suggested this cause i had a car with the similar problem.
