Hi I have a 1990 Subaru legacy GT, single turbo vf28, 96 STI ra Ecu and I think it has 330cc injectors, and a brand new walbro 400hp fuel pump, 206kw fuel pressure regulator, now it starts cold great, no smoke, it hunts on idle. when i drive it, slowly increase throttle it's fine, but when it hits 5-6psi or higher it starts cutting out, it just doesn't go anywhere like it being driven with the hand brake on lol, under heavy load, same symptoms but worse and it actually feels like it's slowing down and blows smoke, I'm pretty sure it's black but give me an all rounder for blue white and black, ow and it's got a pod filter from original owner. I drove it again today and increased the boost a little but this time it blew out a fair bit of smoke under load so I backed of and tried driving but the second I touched the throttle it felt like it was going to stall, then it did so I started it up, gave it a couple of light revs and was fine just back to same problem on boost. Please help

SOURCE: hi i have a 1990 subaru legacy rs BC5 single turbo

Hello, that is a puzzler, but the blow off valve opening up at an idle is making me think exhaust/catalytic converter restriction causing to much back pressure. Like it can't get the air through fast enough so it's backing up in the intake. I would start my chase there... Let me know if you find any thing...(subyguru)...

Is there anyone who has added turbo on a 1999 Subaru Legacy GT 2.5 liter?

I would do a Google search on this. If you add a turbo you must make many other changes to the engine management system, bigger capacity fuel injectors, hight capcity fuel pump, different cylinder head gaskets improvements to the transmission and so on. You can't just bolt it on.

1990 subaru legacy wagon fuel injectors are not getting fuel to start it

Check the pressure to the fuel rail then check it at the line before the fuel pressure regulator, it should be between 55 and 80 psi at the rail and 100 psi before the regulator, if you don't have pressure before the regulator then you have a fuel pump issue, if the rail pressure is low then you may need to replace the regulator.

I have a 92 legacy sedan with bad motor. Bought a 92 legacy wagon turbo. Do I have to change wire harness in front with computor, or can I change just computor?

hi im presuming your old car is non turbo if so you will have to change a lot of parts over to make it work, you will have to replace entire engine loom, the ecu will need changed over then the fuel pump and all of the fuel lines will need to be replaced with the bigger turbo model ones to keep up also the trans will bolt strait up but will be the major weak point so swap over if possible.

I have subaru b4 legacy 1999 with twin turbo from Japan and I would like to increase the torque and speed. Where do I start.

hi i would invest in an electronic boost controller, they remove the dead spot in the revs before the big turbo winds in, they are worth a few hundred dollars but are well worth the money. You also have the option of turning up the boost safely a few psi with these but you will love the difference without the dead spot it will seem like a new car to drive. If you do that and want more still i would get a turbo upgrade, ecu upgrade, fuel pump upgrade etc do all that you can before going with the expensive motor rebuild
