2004 gmc serria ext cab (check engine light)

The other day I washed the engine in my truck and drove it for apprrox 150 mile the next morning I drove for 32 miles and the check engine light came on. I had a friend of mine check it out with an engine scanner ans it had an error code 0332 (knock sensor) he cleared the code and it worked for approx 32 mile and came back on. he said that moisture may have gotten into the knock sensor boot causing the error code or I have a bad sensor. I also triey to disconnect the battery and try to clear the error code that way seems to work bbut comes back, hoe do I solve this problem without having to remove the entire intake from the engine.

I just bought a used GMC sierra with the same engine. I'm considering changing it myself. I bought a Haynes repair manual. I'll post when I'm done. I don't notice any performance issues, but the Advanced auto parts guy said fuel economy would suffer. It's getting 15.6 on the highway. It's an Ext cab z-71 and it has a fiberglass bed cover.

SOURCE: My engine light has come on in my 2004 GMC crew

If the light was flashing when it came on, then it means your engine is misfiring.

A solid light can mean anything from a loose/faulty gas cap to a transmission issue.

This light comes on when the computer detects a fault of some sort in its diagnostic tests. If it keeps detecting this issue, the light will remain on. If the light turns off, then it has detected that the issue may no longer be present.

In order to find out what the exact reason was for your light, You need to have your car computer scanned to retrieve the code that the computer would have stored when the light triggered. Most garages will do this free of charge. The code will tell you what may have caused the light to initially turn on. Until you get this code, it's impossible to determine what parts need to be checked or replaced.

Hi, there are a number of trouble codes associated with the O2 sensors. Some indicate a sensor failure and others indicate a different problem. Can you tell me the trouble code you are getting?

Hello, have you tried to unhook the negative side of the battery for about 10 minutes and then go from there . It should reset the computer completely .

Lack of power when accelerating

You really should have a code check done. There are numerous items that can give you similar symptoms. Two places to look are the fuel filter (usually overlooked till they gum up, and the throttle position sensor (but test it first with an ohmeter. You will need a manual (vehicle specific ones are available at most larger parts stores and most of those stores also do code testing free)

2005 SIERRA 1500 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON (STEADY)

Sound like it could be the purge valve, it is located between the cab and the box on the drivers side, it has a plug and a hose going to it. It has a small foam filter in it which must be removed, cleaned, dried and then reinstalled.
It happened to me.
I don't remember if I had to remove the neg. post off the battery for a minute or so to reset the fault code.
