go to Didgeforums.com.

I had a similiar problem, found the solution there. It was the wiring harnes on the drivers side under the hood, just above the wheel well. there are a cluster of wires in a bundle. I unpacked the bundle carefuly and sure enough the were two or three wires all coroded, had wite powder from corosion. repaired the connections and bingo. I posted details at dodgeforums.com. browse around there. I posted pictures as well. this is a common problem.

Best to use a pressure tester on the radiator to see the leak happen without the engine running.

If the pressure hose has a hole in it you will never stop the leak because the fluid can reach 2500 psi. You will have to replace the hose. If the leak is at a fitting you can most likely replace the "o"-ring or washer . Hope this helps.

How many miles? Sounds like its time for a motor rebuild. I would do a leakdown test, puts the cylinders under pressure and it is supposed to hold it for a certain amount of time. Or if you do not have access to a leak down tester, a compression tester. Sounds like the motor has quite a few miles. If you want to limp it to its death, put some thicker oil in it. 20w50.

I have a 97 dodge dakota it is leaking oil from the oil filter. the seal is good and it is tight.

if u just had the oil change recently I would unscrew the filter and make sure the old oil filter rubber seal did not stick to the block when the old oil filter was removed. If there is two seals on it tight it will still leak. It happens more than you think.

Hi I am Brasilian and I have a Dogde Dakota 1999 V6 - 3.9. I am having a problem with my car due to oil pressure. When I accelerate my car after 3500 RPM and came back to 2500 RPM with the car in moviment,...

If you haven't done so recently, change the oil and filter, if problem is still there, change the oil sending unit, if that don't cure it, then there is an oil pump problem. Doing this is easier and cheaper than having to drop the oil pan if you don't need to.

Changed oil recently on 96 dodge dakota, 3.9l. now after driving for a few miles the check oil light comes on and gage drops down to zero. can you help with this?

Hello, please let me give you some info that will be useful to you. The engine that you speak of is notorious for developing sludge and carbon buildup. These particles are gathered up at the pickup tube screen. This is why te pressure changes, the screen gets clogged, and, when the engine is turned off, the particle fall to the bottom of the pan.

What I would do: Raise the vehicle, and make sure that the vehicle is secure. Be real careful. Next, drain the oil. Then, remove the oil pan. Inspect the pan for debris, and the pickup screen for clogs, or blockages.

I recently had one of these vehicles in for service, and I cleaned the pan 3 times, and the issue reappeared each time... then, the owner got fed up with the debris issue, and traded it in.

Check out your freeze plugs. They are thin metal cups that press fit into the side of the block. Use a mirror and a light to inspect while the engine is running.
