These vehicles use an electronic speedometer with a sending unit in the transaxle generally. The problem could be the sending unit which is usually mecanically gear-driven, the wiring from the sending unit to the speedometer, or the speedometer cluster itself. Depending on your tools, you may be able to test the sending unit at home and there may be a testing procedure in the factory service manuals if you can locate or borrow a copy.

My husband needs to locate the speedometer sending unit on his 2000 gmc sierra....if he could see what it looks like (diagram?) maybe he could check to make sure he plugged it back after changing his...
The VSS is located on the tail section of the transmission on 2WD models. On 4WD/AWD models, it is located on the transfer case.

Just need to know the location of the sensor for the speedometer cause everything else in the panel is working properly just think it may have come loose on my 200 chevy silverado
At the tail end of your transmission there should be a sensor screwed in with 2 wires. This is the speedometer sending unit.

Replacing speedometer sending unit
these are no longer read by cable but rather fly by wire consult your dealer for part location and replacement.... after market parts are always much cheaper then OEM however they dont always work... take the car to an Auto Zone Parts Store and ask them to locate the sensor for you they have a computer information bank they access for free....they can also scan your vehicle to see if any codes exist and all this is done as a customer service, perhaps they can give you an idea of what the part costs as well?

Speedometer
with the speedometer it could be a bad sending unit located on the left side of the transmission near the cv axle. or that the guage is faulty, or a loose connection. your transmission is a AX4N Metric if it's an automatic. the sending unit is a dealer only item and costs about 60 dollars it is not cable driven but has an electrical harness to it. as far as the hard steering it could be that your power steering pump is bad, you have a blockage in your rack and pinion unit, or there is air in the system

Speedometer problem on kia sedona 2002
in newer model vehicles the speedometer is not cable operated but is electronically controled so either there is a loose connection going to the sending unit located on the transmission, a faulty sending unit itself, or the speedometer cluster in the dash is the problem. check the connection on the sending unit look for corrossion or a broken connector. if this is not the problem, take it to a shop and have a mechanic replace the sending unit or speedometer cluster.
