All brake lights are on. car won't come out of park
SOURCE: CADILLAC CTS 2003
Are your power seats working? Mine shorted out and several days later my battery was dead because the short was drawing power from the battery when the car was not running. If your battery and charging system check out o.k, I would say you have some kind of parasitic drain on your battery.

Diagnosing this will be subject to a process of elimination. It could be the radio, blower motor or any other accessory particularly ones with moving parts; Try switching those off and try to note when this problem occurs and what is on/whatyou are doing. Something is getting hot causing the smell so it will be a situation where the accessory will have to run a while before doing it. It is a possibility that there is an electical curcuit overheating, but less likely. Lets rule out accessories first and give us an update. GL

SOURCE: 2003 Cadillac CTS. Shift linkage makes metallic
Just had the same problem. The problem is that the rubber bushing on the transmission linkage deteriorates and falls off. This causes two problems - shifter is loose and a metallic clunking sound is heard when shifting. It's not the shifter inside the car. It's the linkage underneath the car. You have to buy the bushing (if sold by itself) or the linkage kit. The linkage is on the passenger side of the transmission between transmission and right side exhaust pipe. Ensure engine/exhaust is cold prior to trying to access. Regards.
