I just built a factory amplifier/crossover bypass adapter for my 2002 Chevy Tahoe Z71 (non-Bose system) . This adapter will allow the full range of audio directly from your head unit to the door speakers. Without this adapter, the factory amplifier will cut out much of the bass / low frequency audio to the door speakers. This adapter will continue to provide an audio signal to the factory amplifier for the rear factory subwoofer and cargo area pillar speakers.

I have posted an article with complete set of step-by-step instructions and detailed photos of the build and installation process.

http://www.savagehomeautomation.com

The article also includes direct links to the exact parts that I purchased on Amazon to build this bypass adapter.

This is what the end result looks like. It is a 100% non-destructive adapter than can be installed or removed from the Tahoe at any time. It just plugs in between the factory wiring harness and the factory amplifier.amp color code wire diagram 2002 tahoe - 7_9_2012_1_38_07_pm.png

Good Luck!

Do u have to bypass the factory amp to use a aftermarket head unit in a 2004 gmc envoy stanard system

If you do not have access to an aftermarket interface cable (some are available depending on brand and model of aftermarket radio), then yes, you have to bypass the amp if the new head unit has an internal amp, AND you wish to use the factory speakers with the new stereo.

There are many ways to do this, but if you want to do it yourself, the absolute best way is to get a copy of the dash harness wiring diagram from GM. This diagram will identify which pins in the radio dash harness connector run to the speakers and/or the amp, and whether you have to run new wires to the output side of the amp to connect to the speakers--this will not be specifically identified in the GM diagram (it will not say anything like 'to connect aftermarket radio, etc.), but it will be evident that you have to do this if there are no speaker pins in the in-dash connector.

How to connect aftermarket radio into 2002 toyota camry JBL radio (the standart wiring doesn't work). Thanks

Your aftermarket radio should have color-coded wires which identifies power, ground, speakers, etc. most depaetment stores carry a radio harness adapter kit. This will connect to your radio's exact color coded wires, and will plug right in to your factory's wiring plug. And don't forget electrical tape.

How to connect a Hyundai car radio to my Toyota ute

This is most likely impossible if either is a late model vehicle. As far as wiring you will need to cut the factory Radio harness out of the Hyundai, you will also need a wire diagram for the Hyundai. You will need to buy a harness designed to install an aftermarket head unit into the Toyota, the new harness will come with a description of which wires perform what function. You will then need to match these to the wires on the harness cut from the Hyundai using the diagram. Even if you do all this other hyundai radio will not bolt in where the factory Toyota radio was, and there is no adapter made for something like this. I would suggest just buying an aftermarket stereo. It will be MUCH easier and will almost definitely sound better than a stock Hyundai unit.

sounds the like the vehicle had an oem amplifier that was removed, most after market stereo installers will trace the speakers wires individually by continuity to by pass the factory amplifier and wire the new head unit to the vehicles speakers, if the harness has been spliced or factory amp removed, you will need to check if the amplifier still exists (usually under passenger rear seat sometimes located in trunk area) and see if the harness has been bypassed. if so you will have to reconnect the harness by color code in order to use the factory head unit

These cars have a factory amp system that will not operate correctly with an aftermarket stereo. You have two choices. You can either run new wires to the speakers your self which would bypass the factory amp. Or you can order the premium sound system Interface here http://www.myinstallkit.com/FORD/1990%20(90)%20FORD%20THUNDERBIRD%20Radio%20-%20Stereo%20Installation%20Kit.htm scroll about half way down the page.

On my 99 4 door the factory amp is powered by a hot pink wire in the truck harness. I hooked the cont. power for a motorized ant. to it and all 4 speakers work. I'm going to check today to see if they work correctly because I found this out late last night and only had it on for a few minutes. I've read that there is a harness for this that apparently you have to specifically ask for at a car audio shop. hope this helps.
