One time I tried to do my own head gasket repair and it didn't turn out to be my smartest decision ever. There are some pretty good sites out there that might help you out if you really want to do it yourself. I would check out some of the sites listed in the solution, but I would also try to find a place that offers a great kit for it. I think that was my problem. I followed directions, but I got a kit from Walmart rather than a quality place.

Can you show me 99 Durango gaskets from top of engine going down ??

I'm sorry, but I can't provide visual images or diagrams. However, I can describe the general order of gaskets in a 1999 Dodge Durango engine from the top going down:
  1. Valve Cover Gaskets: These gaskets are located on top of the cylinder heads and seal the valve covers. They help prevent oil leaks from the top of the engine.
  2. Intake Manifold Gasket: The intake manifold gasket seals the connection between the intake manifold and the cylinder heads. It helps maintain proper air-fuel mixture and prevents vacuum leaks.
  3. Throttle Body Gasket: If equipped, the throttle body gasket seals the connection between the throttle body and the intake manifold. It ensures proper airflow into the engine.
  4. Exhaust Manifold Gaskets: These gaskets are located between the exhaust manifold and the cylinder heads. They seal the exhaust gases and prevent leaks.
  5. Head Gaskets: The head gaskets are situated between the cylinder heads and the engine block. They seal the combustion chambers and coolant passages.
  6. Oil Pan Gasket: The oil pan gasket is located at the bottom of the engine and seals the oil pan to the engine block. It prevents oil leaks from the oil pan.
  7. Front and Rear Main Seals: These seals are located at the front and rear of the engine crankshaft. They prevent oil leaks where the crankshaft exits the engine block.
  8. Timing Cover Gasket: If equipped, the timing cover gasket seals the timing chain or belt cover to the engine block. It helps protect the timing components and prevents oil leaks.

Engine mixing water and oil in the sump. took the cylinder head and engine block for pressure test. but still mixing what could be wrong. The above was returned as not cracked.

hi there.
Water in the engine - Water can get into your oil sump in two ways: ... Water in the oil- Coolant leak due to non-watertight seal (cylinder head gasket, etc.). If this happens, there is a leak and water is getting into the oil.
Water in engine oil
If you found water in oil car , this water engine car section is for you!
Water in car engine? Water should never be allowed to get into the oil in your engine or gearbox. Otherwise, it will result in significant foaming, dramatically reducing the product's lubrication properties.
Water in the engine - Water can get into your oil sump in two ways:
  • Water in car - Water condensation in cold air or combustion gases: this phenomenon is extremely rare and only occurs at specific temperatures.
  • Water in the oil - Coolant leak due to non-watertight seal (cylinder head gasket, etc.). If this happens, there is a leak and water is getting into the oil.
Water in motor oil can cause serious damage to your engine - the oil will be denatured and no longer effectively cooled.

2002 Subaru outback is leaking antifreeze and not heating up.

This is common issue early sign head gaskets failure for EJ251 SOHC engine for external coolant leak. Second gen 96-99 with EJ25D is worst because when head gaskets failed, it's an internal leak that allows coolant and oil mix together in the combustion chamber to destroy engine.
You can drive it for at least 6 months or more as long as you keep top up coolant since the leak should be small at a slower rate leak. I drove mine for a while before change head gaskets. You're looking at `$1000-1200 job a dealership since you might as well change the timing belt, water pump, idlers while engine is pulled to replace head gaskets.

I have a 2001 2.2L gt pontiac sunfire.im wondering what could cuase coolant to leak from the bottom of the intake manifold. That's where it semms like its leaking from because its coming from above the...

you could have a bad intake gasket that is allowing coolant to go into oil. if the head gasket is good then the other thing it could be is a crack in the engine.

I have oil leaking into cooling system, but no water in the engine. My oil level is dropping. What can cause this and what is the fix?

This is caused by a leaking head gasket. When a head gasket leaks you can get oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil of the engine or both. You will need to pull the cylinder head off, have it checked for cracks and if none are found have it machined flat again and replace the head gasket. Use only a quality head gasket set either from the Toyota dealer or a well known quality brand like Fel-Pro (available from NAPA and others). This is a job that requires some special tools and a great deal of car repair knowledge, time to do the job is about 6 hours.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

The cylinder head is located on the center of the engine. Yes it can be a worn out head gasket or piston rings. If the piston rings are worn out the oil is burnt that's why it emits white smoke. You will need to replace the head gasket and piston rings.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Oil appearing in radiator, 4afe engine, is there awater gallery behind oil pump? checked head gasket looked fine

Still can be a cracked head gasket. Unless you are creating to much pressure in your engine. Just because you do not see any oil leaks does not mean that the head gasket could not be cracked
