My battery has been drained twice now because I forgot to turn off my headlights when I get to work in the daylight. When lights were left on and the car was shut off, and I opened the door an alert would ding to remind me about the lights-that doesn't happen any more. How to fix this?
You will have to check your fuses cause there will be a fuse for it
If that's ok make sure the unit on the inside of the door works fine
It's the one with the little pin sticking out
Also if the roof light comes on like normal when opening the door then that unit is fine and don't need to get checked then u should check only the fuse
If fuse is fine then it might be a connection problem or the unit that gives the sound tone
There is a switch in the latch of your door which is broken. They used to use easily replaceable plunger switches now they have incorporated the switch into the door lock latch mechanism making it more expensive than necessary. I had same problem. You probably also set off your alarm quite frequently as well. If you shut off your car and try to start it after 30 seconds the alarm sounds, it did in my case. Luckily, I had purchased one of those extended warranties as my car was used. I still had to pay $100 but I think the switch is just over $120 this for me covered labor as well.
SOURCE: Radio does not work. Cannot set clock. Door open
There is an anti-theft system tied into your radio. When the battery goes dead, you have to reset your radio with a code. there is a code in your manual that has to be typed in. If you don't have the manual, go to the dealer. They will find the code, for free. Then, look in the manual. You have to type in the code, then hit a button or two, then the radio will come right back on. then you can reset the clock too.
