SOURCE: i think i need to replace the ignition coil in my

This is for PGM-IG ignition coil type, there is also electronic ignition igniter on the distributor type.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the distributor cap retaining screws and remove the distributor cap and seal. Slide off the leak cover.
  3. Remove the two screws that retain the BLK/YEL and WHT/BLU wires from the terminals in the distributor.
  4. Remove the screws that retain the coil and remove the coil from the distributor body. To install:
  5. Install the coil in position and tighten the screws securely.
  6. Reconnect the two leads and install the leak cover.
  7. Install the distributor cap and seal.

check your wiring for dirty connections or broken wires, you may have wires that are rubbed through or connectors that are not making full contact. you will need an ohm meter and check wires for continuity. a wiring diagram will be needed.

I was driving along in the city and the car just died 2001 honda civic ex 110000 miles towed car home pulled plug and wire and check for spark but nothing all though the gap on the plug looked fairly...

There is a long list of possibilities- including the obvious plugs and wires. Then there is the coil, main relay, crank sensor, and the top dead center sensor (which is under the cam - I am told). Put a bag of ice on the main relay first. Apparently these things lose connectivity when they get hot.
