i have only heard it refered to as the BCM. It used to be in the trunk mounted along the drivers side(89-90). My door locks are shorting out along with my power seat the shop that did my comand start checked their electronics/wiring and all checked out good. I will see what i can find behind the fuse box but it used to be a fairly large box in the trunk.

Do you mean the GEM body control module? if so it is above the fuse box, you must drop the fuse box down to see it.Do you mean the GEM body control module? if so it is above the fuse box, you must drop the fuse box down to see it.

Could be the trunk release relay ,located in the rear fuse/relay box . It's under the back seat . trunk fuse # 22 10 amp - located in the same rear fuse box. Could also be the trunk latch actuator ,could be a wiring issue , could be a BCM - body control module problem . The trunk lid open button is a input to the BCM . When the BCM see's this input it energizers the trunk relay . Do you know how to look at a wiring diagram an use a voltmeter to test automotive electrical circuits ? If not ,your best bet mite be to take it to a qualified repair shop.
Can you open trunk with a key? If so, unplug the electrical for the trunk, till you can fix the problem. Then look up the wiring diagram for trunk release, check wiring circuits, something maybe shorted that connects with your door. I haven't looked to see if bcm has a connection with doors as well as trunk release? The bcm was just a thought may not be relevant?
Are you talking about the module for the central locking system, alarm a delayed lights ? There really isn't a BCM that controls everything like in the newer vehicles. That's about the only one I can think of for body control functions other than the module for a sun roof. If this is the what you are looking for, this module is located in the trunk of the vehicle on the right (passenger) side behind the trim. Hope this helped you.
First, if you would like to receive USEFUL information about your vehicle, (ESPECIALLY when you are asking about engine controls) it would be nice if you would mention WHICH ENGINE your vehicle is equipped with!
1995 Mercury Cougar XR7 was equipped with 3 different engines: 3.8L NON-SC VIN CODE [4] 3.8L SC VIN CODE [R] 4.6L V-8 VIN CODE [W]
The crank sensor for both of the 3.8L engines is located at the lower right FRONT of the engine.
The crank sensor for the 4.6L engine is located at the lower right REAR of the engine.
1990 Mercury Cougar Bostonian, mint condition... recently purchased. I hear a whisting/slight high pitch noise that seems to be coming from, in back of the glove box. Any suggestions or ideas?
there are ussually rubber plugs in the bottom,if not use shop vac to remove water and fix leak check antenna if its metal and at the rear panel, other areas to check are the rear tail light gaskets.also look at tail mounting holes.
It's located in the IRCM (Integrated Relay Control Module) just in front
of the air filter, front of the car, passenger side. cannot locate
the ircm there
