Heater blows cold air. Mechanic changed heater core which was clogged with rusty looking gunk. Still blowihg cold air. Mechanic thinks I have a head gasket leak that is causing rust to clog heater or head gaskett is letting exghauhst into system causing air lock. Mechanic gives up. Hate to dive into head gasketts unless sure that is what it is. Also changed thermostat. Help

not only does the dash require removal, but you will also need to completely remove the hvac module assembly from the vehicle after the dash is out of the way. the module will have to be diassembled in order to replace the core.--hvac module removal will require ac refrigirant recovery and coolant replacement.--it sounds like a lot of work but should only take you about one good saturday if its your first time around the block.---good luck.

did it over heat before the therm? if not it is the wrong therm. Other than that you have to have a air pocket.

I had the same problem that I just fix by flushing the heater core out with a hose. take the two hoses off the fire wall and put the water to it and let flush. my heater is putting out 150 dg. F of hot air. I'm so excited! i will stay warm now.
