Wont start sometimes ,let set for 10 minutes then it starts ,,
2001 gmc jimmy 4wd---put key in ignition--all lights and radio come on--no clicking or noise it just wont crank at all-replaced battery already--what the problem?
I was having the same loud clicking when i turned the key. engine wasnt turning over at all. The problem was the Starter Solenoid Switch. $20 bucks at AutoZone. Took 15 minutes to change (its only 2 nuts and 5 wires). Clicking is gone and Jeep Starts. this was for a 1984 CJ7
Good luck
You may want to have your starter checked sometimes when they are about to go they will work sparatically
Our 1994 Sable had a intermittent starter problem and even a new starter didn't fix it. Turns out it could have been fixed for free had I known the spade connector to the solenoid was so corroded that it would not always make contact. Replaced the connector and it has now been working fine for about 5 years. The starter connector is in a vulnerable place where it will frequently get wet, so coat it with silicone sealant after replacement.
Same irratic starting problem. Mechanic replaced the fuel pump relay. It was ok for a few days. This morning it would't start.
This might help you guys. check it out

It is because of the actual remote start brains. If you try to start it over 2 times in 10 min. it wont start. So you are right on letting it sit for ten min. that is just the reason that it does that. nothing wrong with batt, alt, etc.
SOURCE: after i changed the ignition switch in my 1983 cadillac now the horn wont stop blowing
did you removed the steering you might have grounded the wire for the horn , it works on a ground system i would check the wire again and make sure it's now shorted

I have the same car, with the same problem. I have been told that its either the ignition cylinder or the ignition switch. I have had my battery, starter, and alternator tested all are fine.
Replaced starter, still does the same thing. The old starter turned out to be fine. Cleaned battery cable connections. Not that either... Ignition?
I just came across this post in a google search. I have a 2002 IS 300 with 100000 and it took two times for it to turn over this morning. I hope this doesn't pose a constant problem!
starts sometimes and shut off twice while driving. mechanic replaced fuel pummp 3 times still starts sparatically
same problem, car wont start then when i let it sit it starts. this morning it wont start any more
6 mos. ago wouldn't start, ran a hot wire from battery to ignition switch, Started fine. For the last 2 mos. I have to pump it 10 times & hold throttle wide open to start it. Now It wont start at all, it gets really close though.
the starter engages and turns the motor it just doesnt want to start.its not every time or even real often but when it happens it just happens.
1998 CABRIO 2.0 picks when it wants to start.
its NOT the starter or battery.
few people online with the same problem seem to have the issue when they are also around water. It is raining outside today and my car wont start. Those people usually wait (that would give it time to dry right?) and it will start and they issue is fixed with a new coil. Sounds like a possiable solution to me.. i will def try this bc i have had problems when i have gone through really big puddles and when its wet outside...
can anyone tell me if it would be in my ignition.... my pathfinder would not start on x-mas eve (right when i was packing up the truck to go to kamloops), So we changed the solenoid..... now it starts only when it feels like it... what should i do?
My 1989 Mazda B2600i will start and stay running only if I hold the key in the start position. I noticed I have to play with the key in the neutral pwr. position to get the dash lights to come on. What's the matter?. Thanks, Ole.
Starter sometimes engages. Other times I just get a 'click' or nothing at all. I wait for a short period of time, turn the key and the engine starts. I'm assuming it's the starter contactor (if there is such a thing) but I have no idea where to look for it. I can't afford to pay for diagnostics at the dealer and want to fix it myself if that is an option.

My ford van is doing the same thing, engine turns over but sometimes doesn't start, wait a few minutes or move from part to drive and pack it starts?
2003 Saab 9-3 convertible. Â Frequently fails to start, but then starts after a wait of 5 minutes to 2 hours. Â These events have nothing in common, (weather, time of day, driving conditions, etc.)
Dealer replaced starter and no change. Â Battery okay and start assembly is apparently ok, since it's new and the car does start most of the time.
I have the same problem with the same model year. Replaced battery, starter and control module. Dealer doesn't have a clue.
I have the same issue. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it does not. I never know when but typically (when it doesn't start) if I let it sit there anywhere from 20 minutes - 2+ hours... it starts up no problem. I have replaced the knock sensor twice and it works for a couple of moths. I take it back to the mechanic and it is burned out. He replaces it and same thing happens a couple of months later. Today it is in the shop again for a 3rd time with same problem. Also, the start engine light is on and I went to Autozone for free diagnostics test and the sensor is what it came up with. Ideas? Help! I love my car even if it does have 193K on it, runs excellent.
Brand New battery only two weeks old. Full power to everything, but when I turn the key all I get is loud repeated clicks.
my 95 safari would quit running thought it was fuel pump changed that and wiring in tank along with fuel filter started right up went to startt it onne hour later no go turns but no fire fuel pump is woking fine

m y 93 altima doesnt start all the time i go out and when am ready to go it wont turn on... all the dash lights are on but it wont start  can it be the switch?Â
