Its perfectly normal.Hot exhaust gases mixing with cold air and by products of the combustion process create the watery substance that you see spit out .Dual fuel (LPG,Hydrogen etc) vehicles do this a lot more noticably.By products of the combustion process are various but water vapour is one of them.Alot of heat is generated by the exhaust so watching a car driving in very cold conditions you can see this effect more clearly

What cause white smoke coming out of exhause pipe

White smoke from the tail pipe is moisture/water turned to steam. It comes from the air drawn into the engine and/or coolant in the engine. If you see excessive white smoke and your coolant level is dropping, you are most likely steaming coolant.Oil burning usually comes out as blue smoke.

What causes white smoke to come from the tail pipe with strong fumes while in idle?

A heavy presence of white smoke from the tail pipe is usually caused by a bad headgasket. If this gasket is bad, the vehicle may run rough as well as overheat.

1990 Geo metro popped and poured white smoke out

its a GEO POPPER.
"no oil up on crank case"

no idea what that means.??????
yes PCV valve. do clog.

white smoke at end if tail pipe.
you didnt say where,?

white smoke has 2 reasons.(tail end)
Steam and oil.
steam goes away fast and looks just like moms tea pot. and smells sweet, like the antifreeze in engine. (rad cap off ,sniff sniff, cold engine)

oil burning, smoke is very very slow to go away.
and smells like , blush burned oil.
if not sure what burn oil looks like or smells like
take out the dip stick on a hot engine
let it drip to the hot exhaust manifold there.
now you know. and is a key diagnostic skill.

no oil seen on dip stick end?, you mean that?
well you need to keep that from happening,
doing weekly service, and for sure old cars.
26 years old.

low oil invites blowing up a good engine.
for sure.
if it did that smoke is oil
if it did 10x worse, both .

my wild guess is you meant to say
I didnt see oil leaking on top of engine.
right?

if the engine backwires to the air cleaner
you forgot to replace the cam belt every 60k miles
the pcv will also be clogged, on cars not getting proper service, super colon.
if the PCV clogs, engine may leak oil bad.

this engine btw is a G10 3 cylinder.
with TBI injection.
we can talk TBI all day, owned one.

white smoke can come from many places
exhaust manifold, leaks of oil can land there
engine can back fire to air cleaner making smoke.
tail end.
steam is much worse. ill not delve in to that yet/.

My 98 firebird tail pipe blows white smoke and water out the tail pipe then as i let it sit for 30 minutes the engine gets hotter then gas like smile and heavier smoke come out the tail pipe it also s

One of the main causes of white exhaust smoke and coolant loss is a cracked or warped cylinder head, a cracked engine block, or head gasket failure caused by overheating. A cracked head may allow coolant to leak into one or more cylinders or into the combustion chamber of the engine. Dirty coolant, a poorly maintained cooling system, a low coolant level, or a non-functioning cooling fan can cause engine overheating. In addition, engine wear can eventually cause the gaskets to lose their capacity to seal properly allowing internal coolant loss. Intake manifold gasket and head gasket failures are two of the most common sources of internal coolant loss caused by engine wear.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

I have a 1996 Ford Explorer, when I crank it up in the morning white smoke comes out the tail pipe and then clears after driving for about 2 minutes. I have codes P0455 and P0300 indicating.

The white smoke is steam. It usually means you have a bad head gasket and possibly a cracked head. The sooner it is repaired the less damage will occur. It may also help prevent you from being stranded. I hope this helps.

There is white smoke that come from the tail pipe and a little every 4 minutes under the hood did that like four time than stop and the fan is not coming on what could these things be

White smoke out of the tail pipe may be an indication of a bad head gasket in the engine. Pull your oil dipstick out and see if the oil looks a little milky.

Smoking, ideling rough,

Hi: What Color is the Oil coming out of your Tail Pipe? I'm Assuming its Motor oil and not Transmission Oil.Since you found white looking substance in your oil It sounds like you have a Blown Head Gasket or both. And could be a Crank Block or Head ,Pull your Spark Plugs out, And Have someone Crank engine over and see if you are getting that white Substance Which i assume is Motor Oil.If you are getting ANY out of ANY Spark Plug hole then Is fair To Say you have a Blown Or Cracked Head Gasket.THERES only 1 Other Alternative On Older Vehicles than Yours is ,They Had what was Called a Vacum Modulator That Attached to the Auto Transmission, I worked off of Vacum From The Intake Manifold,And if the Diafram in It went Bad it would **** Transmission Fluid up Through the Intake Manifold and Burn It through your Intake and would come out tail Pipe as a WHITE SMOKE,But it normally would not be in the Enging Oil Or Radiator. So i Would 1st Check the 1st Advise i have Given You.Pull The Spark Plugs. Hope This Helps. Please REply by Voting if this Helped Youat All,Thanks From the WYOCWBOY

My 2004 ford 450 superduty deisal wont start in the mornings and when it cranks over black smoke comes out the tail pipe

If it finally starts after a lot of cranking, I'd have a look at the glow plugs. If they've not been changed since the truck was built, they've probably come to the end of their life.
