Instructions on replacing headlight assembly

Instruction on replacing passenger headlight assembly

  • Anonymous Nov 26, 2008

the assembly is held on with two 11mm nuts on the bottom (inside two cutouts in the frame) and two phillips screws on the top. you may need to remove the battery (passenger side) and the supporting parts for it. if driver side, the water/washer fluid canister has to be removed (or at least lifted out of the way). this is what was explained to me by a ford tech yesterday so i could change a light buld on the bottom of the assembly. it isn't as easy as it was explained!!!

How do I replace the headlight assembly MN133516

The 2003 Outlander utilizes replaceable (9007) headlight bulbs. If you're looking to replace the bulb(s);
1. Raise the hood.
2. Remove the plastic cover at the rear of the headlamp assembly by rotating it counterclockwise, and pulling it off. This will allow access to the headlight bulb.
3. Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise in order to remove it from the headlamp assembly. Pull the old bulb out of the socket, and use a clean cloth to install the replacement bulb. Do not touch the glass of the new bulb.
4. Place the socket back into the assembly, and twist it clockwise. Reattach the plastic cover, and close the hood.
Are you needing DIY instructions for replacing the entire headlamp assembly? Left (driver) or Right (passenger)?

Removing low beam bulb on 05 subaruoutback

Whether they become damaged in an accident or simply burn out over time, your Subaru Outback's headlights may eventually need to be replaced. Fortunately, once you've purchased the right replacement bulb for your model year, performing the repair yourself is relatively easy. These instructions only apply to Outback models made after 2000.

  1. Undo the clips on the air intake ducts using a screwdriver and remove the duct from the engine compartment (driver's side bulb removal only.)

  2. 2

Loosen the secured clip on the washer tank with a screwdriver and slide the tank horizontally to allow easier access to the headlight assembly (passenger's side bulb removal only.)

  3. 3

Turn the bulb cover counterclockwise and remove it from the assembly.

  4. 4

Disconnect the headlight electrical connector and undo the assembly retaining spring.

  5. 5

Pull the old bulb directly out of the socket and replace it with the new one. Press the retaining spring back into place and reattach the electrical connector.

  6. 6

Replace the bulb cover, and then turn on the engine. Test the new headlight to make sure it works before replacing the air intake duct or the washer tank and closing the hood.

I need to remove old broken passenger side headlight assembly and install new assembly in my 2004 Chevy Colorado crew cab. I need step by step instructions on how to do this myself.

I am not sure about the Colorado, but most vehicles about that age have a plastic clip. If you open the hood it is near the back of the headlight area and pulls straight up. You should be able to take these two clips off and the headlight will go straight forward, you can then twist the bulb holders out of the headlight assembly. Reverse procedure to install. Please rate my answer so I an awarded points for it.

I need to replace the headlight assembly on a 1999

I just popped one of mine off this evening looking for the fan relay. 10mm socket. One bolt at the top, 3 nuts behind each lamp. You may need to take the air intake out to get access to the nuts on the drivers side. That is another 3 10mm bolts, 2 of which you need to take out to get to the air filter anyway.

How to replace passenger side headlight assembly on 2001 BMW 325i

The E46 2001 325i headlight assembly is held down by 4 bolts. Question is where they are and how to get to them. The 4 bolts require a 10mm wrench.

There are two bolts on top of the headlight assembly. And two more near the back of the assembly, near the area where you would change a headlight bulb.

There is just one more trick to this. Please refer to this trim: http://e46fanatics.com/howto/howtodetail.php?howto_id=24

This trim hooks on to the side fender, just under the turn signal. You have to unhook this.

Then the entire headlight assembly (including the turn signal) can be slided out together.

The 2003 Sable has the same headlight assembly and removal/replacement instructions as the 2001 Sable. Once I had this information in hand, bulb replacement was easy.

Headlight replacement instructions

Release the hood latch inside the Rodeo. Raise the hood and look down behind the headlights. The old bulb and assembly are held into the headlight from the back side of the the headlight. There is not a great deal of room to work behind the headlight because of the battery on the passenger's side and the air cleaner box on the driver's side.

Grip the large round plastic nut with your hands and give it a quarter turn counter-clockwise. Carefully remove the head light and plastic nut. Look for the release lever to depress and pull on the old bulb at the same time. It will unplug very much like your computer power cord. Be careful not to drop the plastic nut.

Now plug in the new bulb and replace the plastic nut. Carefully insert the bulb into the headlight and give the plastic nut a clockwise quarter turn and try the new light.

I just replaced both of my headlights last night and I am an accountant.

Good luck!
